So those smaller fighter ships that come with the models…doing anything with those? I would like some of them but don't want to buy multiple kits just to get them. Leland, do you know what the name of those are so I can search for them? |
BlackWidowPilot | 03 Sep 2015 10:58 p.m. PST |
LorNth, I am working on some Silent Death crossover rules for the Yamato 2199 universe. I have a pair of the Mecha Colle Cosmo Zeros and am finishing up my first pair of Garmillas DDg-110 interceptors as of this writing. Right now the only Mecha Colle kits of fighters are the Cosmo Zero and the EDF Hayabusa. Alas, the only way to get ahold of the Garmillas fighters is to buy one of the larger ship kits they come with. The good news is that there are two of the Garmillas ship sets that even with shipping aren't too painful in price, and they come with two identical Garmillas fighters so two of those and two of the Hayabusas or Cosmo Zero -which at the current exchange rate are circa $3 USD a pop!- and you're able to at least have a dogfight for two to four players without going to too extreme an expense: link link I scored two of the Deusura II sets on sale at HobbyLink Japan, so I have four of the DDG-110 interceptors to look forward to, but I am sadly part of a long queue of backordered Garmillas Ship Set #3 sad sacks pining away for our own Garmillas battlecruiser and fighter ace Melda Deitz custom all red wicked-cool space fighter models to call our own…
I'd say your best bet is to add your voice to the chorus and contact Bandai directly and beg them for a Mecha Colle Garmillas fighter kit. As they appear to be releasing new Mecha Colle kits practically one per month right now and with a second Yamato 2199 movie already out in Japan and another one rumored, there is still some hope for those of us who are just dying to play out some of the swirling fighter dogfights from the Yamato 2199 universe (and all we need is a workhorse Garmillas single seat fighter for 400 yen)… Leland R. It does rather look like them… I have a tin box filled with assorted plastic and white metal missiles from various sources, and i am seriously thinking of seeing if I can't special order a specific type made by C-in-C for use with my Garmillas dreadnought:
I've been meaning to put together some torpedo swarm markers for Silent Death using various sized missiles mounted on a numbered flight base, and given how many torpedoes the Garmillas dreadnought packs after I worked her out for Silent Death as a 10K ton destroyer, perhaps I better dust off that little project…

Hey guys, just was looking through Hobby Link Japan at Yamato models. If you want any of the old mecha collection models they have them on sale for 180yen. This works out to $1.50 USD each and is an absolute steal if you need to bulk out your fleets. Act fast though, some of the more popular ships are sold out or low stock. |

Derek, shockingly enough given my advanced old age and degree of depraved insanity (or is it insane depravity? I can never seem to remember that technical jargon they used at the asylum…) I grokked what you were up to. I just was struck by how a black or dark grey finish really brings out the more sinister lines of the ship less apparent on the jaunty Amazon rain forest parrot schemes of the originals… Now I AM torn as to which way to go with the pesky things when I add a half dozen more to my existing squadrons… Drat it! And it doesn't help me one bit that I am planning to modernize a number of them with longer barreled "shock cannons" and some rapid fire point defense guns while I am at it… Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net

Thylacine DF | 08 Feb 2016 5:51 p.m. PST |
G'Day I don't know if those destroyers need much modernisation. As well as those effective torpedoes there is also supposed to be two 12.7 cm anti ship cannon. We didn't get to see them operate in the show but I imagine that these weapons might be similar to the cannon mounted in the nose of the type zero fighter, which was very effective. anyway the 3 step carrier is ready for varnishing, I know it's not really part of plan but it came in the box. So it gets done :)

It's nearly been a year since I bought or built any Yamato 2199 kits, but I started doing just that in the past few weeks. I usually miss the ones I really want on HLJ, so I've resorted to eBay, and picked up some good deals-
Not only on Yamato 2199 kits, but Battlestar Galactica kits too-
Not to say I haven't gotten anything from HLJ, I did get a few kits-
Plus I've been getting lots of Silent Death starfighters-
I'm slowly building up my fleets for 5150:Fighter Command/Carrier Command
And I've got more kits on the way. |
