Hi all, I'm just embarking on a unit of Austrian Hussars (4th Hessen-Homburg to be precise,) and see their breeches are poppy red. Does anyone have a good match for this colour. I use Vallejo paints mainly but am open to suggestions. The shabraque I have down as scarlet so this suggest a difference in shade. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards Gav |

If you still have an old tin of the Humbrol Authentic Colours range, Poppy Red was #153 Erdbeerrot (Strawberry Red). |

Does anyone have a good match for this colour. I'd just paint 'em a nice bright red. At this distance in time we have absolutely no idea what exact shade was used. |

Recommended by Archiduke in his book for a bright red. Vallejo 3 color layers. 1st layer Burnt cadmium red 814 2nd layer Carmine red 908 3rd layer Vermillion 909 This gives a nice bright red color. |
