See the plain-as-bread Parliamentarian army take on three opponents in a 1-day competition in the heart of the Kings Country – Oxford.
Read the reports as Renaissance Hannibal and Oliver Cromwell square up in the post-match reviews, and scratch your head as to how many Youtube videos that do not feature members of the Sealed Knot can be shoehorned into the three reports of some of the most vanilla armies every to take the field.
And, potatoes on bases… Say no more! |

A jolly little jaunt, indeed…with a jolly giant for a general. That was fun -- thanks! |

Interesting as always. Not that I am a Parliamentary sympathizer… |

I played in this competition, using a Later Royalist army. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the most popular choice from the ECW lists – 8 of the 22 entries were Later Royalist. Even so, I was a bit miffed that all three of my games were against the same army I had – albeit mine was slightly unusual in having no pikes and no artillery. So I couldn't help smiling when I saw that he played the only other Early Parliamentarian army in the competition in his first game, and the only New Model Army in his last! Great reports, though – if anyone isn't familiar with his write-ups, he's been playing FoG:R since it came out and all his match reports can be found on his website. They are very, very funny, but also quite informative about rules subtleties and applications. |
