I've just finished my fifth Spartan phalanx and rebased some Generals including King Agis (twice) – I'm very pleased with them. Spartans are lovely to paint compared with (say) Celts. I hate painting Celts. ;-) More about them on t'blog, together with an appeal for some Foundry pins: link Best, Simon |

…I meant to say Spartan phalanx, but accidently went all Laconic. ;-) |

Sorry to be a Cassandra here, but you can't rely on 'em. Just as you're setting up at a convention they'll refuse to come out of the carry case because the moon's in the wrong phase or something. Mark my words… But they do look great, so there's always that ;-) |

Yes, more than likely Aaron! Soon I need to base some Athenians up so that they have someone (aside from the helots) to give a good thrashing. |

They look great – a shower of facist nationalists, but the paintwork and basing is nice. :) |

Even if they do come out of the carrying case, they'll spend the first few turns combing their hair. And probably saying manly things like "Oh migawd. Like, totally, right? I mean, did you see him? He's like, totally buff." |

Why are Spartans dead hard but look like surf bums? |

Those are excellent, nice work! Edit: Are those the shields that came with them? I had considered replacing them with larger 1stCorps shields for mine, but those look just fine. |

Thanks all! Yes Scott those are the original shields; many are cast on. They are on the small side, but just acceptable. The other alternatives tend to be quite a bit larger… Best, Simon |
