Which rules would you recommend? |

I enjoyed Palo Alto to Peking many years ago. I'm sure I still have my copy squirreled away somewhere. |

I played "Santa Anna Rules" at a convention right after the rules came out. I was the American player right across from one of the co-authors who happen to be Hispanic. Very surreal. Very nice and gracious young man. The rules reminded me of JR2 but without all the angst. |

What level of game are you looking for? Small skirmish of huseclearing in Ciudad de Mexico, or the largest engagements possible? |

Larry Brom's old house rules with the Mexican War variant. |

I remember that with "Santa Anna Rules" you had to individually base your figures. It was quite a pain to move the formations. |

We're intending to modify Black Powder. |

Oddball, I love movement trays just for that kind of "requirement" (from Pirates of the Caribbean, "They're more like guidelines.") |

2nd Vote for Regimental Fire and Fury with the Mexican-American War mods. Plays well |

Another vote for Santa Anna Rules. Magnetic move trays work great for the individual basing. |

So, does anyone have a list of Black Powder OBs or rules suggestions for MAW units? |

There was an article in WI with BP mods. I'll see if I can find it. |

I've almost finished mounting a couple of thousand 15mm Mexican-American War figures and hoping to do some small test battles this month, then set up for a really big battle with Eric Burgess and the Charlotte Garrison in March. I'm making some play aids to ease us into Piquet-Hallowed Ground rules for our Mexican-American War battles from our more usual Seven Years War battles using Piquet-Cartouche rules. We've also used Eric's Piquet-Din of Battle rules and figures for Maximilian Mexican Adventure battles in the 1860s. I really enjoy the Piquet rules and historical supplements, and after we have gamed a few Mexican-American War battles I'll report on how it went. |
