Seen this (old)… took my attention.
I enjoyed Galaxy Quest a lot!.

"It's entirely possible that Galaxy Quest is the best Star Trek movie ever made. It wasn't a huge draw in theaters but it reveled in Trekdom's greatest assets--it's fans. What seems to be satire on the surface is also a love-letter of sorts to nerds of every stripe. Now Paramount has plans to turn the 1999 film into a regular series…"

I think they should leave well enough alone. It will fare as well as did the GEICO Caveman commercials made into a TV show.

Good lord no….

The things that made it a great movie absolutely will not translate to a TV series.

It might be good, might be bad too. I think they ought to bring back Quark though.

So… okay, I liked it a lot. I made a living off of Star Trek for several years. Who in John Q. Public will even understand it? The whole movie was insider Trekkie… er… Treker jokes.

I have a bad feeling about this.

So, I guess the Sharknado TV series idea got shot down.

A new movie or two would be a far better deal than trying to force a TV series out of this. They left a few openings in the original – what happened to the detached command section that was crashed into the Convention Centre for instance? The movie did point to a new series, but a punctuated movie series like they are doing with Trek would be easier to produce.

I loved the film – it was a very affectionate trekkie spoof – but i'm not sure how well that'll translate as a series. I suspect a dreaded seriousness will creep in, while trying to maintain a frothy, light veneer, which would be deadly for the basic concept.

I loved the film – it was a very affectionate trekkie spoof – but i'm not sure how well that'll translate as a series. I suspect a degree of seriousness will crepp in, in order to maintain dramatic tension, while they attempt to keep up a frothy, light overall feel, and this could deflate the basic feel of Galaxy Quest.
