Just want to know any takes on these rules. I'm thinking about some Blue Moon figs to do some Plains Wars. Also, if these are no good(in your opinion), any other suggestions for small scale rules?
Thanks in advance,
Peter

I have not played these so cannot comment. But I love Yellow Ribbon from RAFM. It has a structure for the Indians that has them actually behave like Indians and not "cossacks with feathers."

Full disclosure: I also sell them here in teh US at ScaleCreep.com

Yeah Yellow Ribbon is great.

Ceterman,

I wrote them years ago for Frontier miniatures, what would you like to know? They will give you a fast fun game. They were designed for 15mm so would work well for Blue Moon. There, I got it back on topic.

Thanks so far guys!
Inkpaduta,
I was just wanting to know a little about the mechanics of the game, you know, how many figs in a Troop, Warband, etc. Are they at all like, say, The Sword & The Flame(which I very much like)? Scale, a few ranges. Good for skirmish? And if so do you have a copy that ya would like to sell?
Thanks everyone,
Peter

The rule book goes as follows.

The first section I discuss the military serving in the West and the various tribes. Giving the allies and enemies of each tribe. Some specifics on each tribe for wargaming them and then the various tribal bands.

The Indians are organized into warbands of 20 figures each. I figure equals 5 real men.

An infantry company is 16 figures.
A cavalry company is 12 figures.

Like TSATF I have information on combining companies into regiments ect.

The sequence is

1) Movement
2) Artillery fire
3) small arms fire
4) Melee
5) Morale
6) Rally

Movement is simultaneous. With units checking to see if they will obey the orders they are given.

With combat you have to do a little math but nothing long or time consuming.

Then the final section has a bunch of scenarios. Included are Indian vs Indian and battles for many of the key wars that were fought in the West.

I do have a copy of the rules. Might be willing to work something out. But I will be out of town for the next week, leaving tomorrow.

Hope this helps. Yes, I think you could do skirmish level games with them with say three cav companies vs X amount of warbands.

Inkpaduta,
Thanks for that, very much. They sound pretty much like what I'm looking for. When you get back home PM me & I'm sure we can work something out. Thanks so much everybody! Mark, I may pick up Yellow Ribbon too, thanks!
