"If space was the final frontier, the thinking behind Star Trek: Voyager goes, then a wholly-unexplored region of space must be the most final-est frontier of all. That's why the crew of the eponymous starship end up trapped on the other side of existence from their home for the seven-year run of the third Star Trek series from the franchise's 1980s/1990s heyday, and although the franchise was beginning to look a little tired by this point, there was still a lot of juice left in those dilithium crystals when it counted. Voyager took some important steps forward for Trek—not least of which was bringing a female captain onboard the mission—but it's not the most highly-regarded of Treks by fans. If that suspicion has kept you away from the show until now, then it's clearly time to take the plunge. Here's a how-to join the voyage for yourself…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

Voyager fell victim to the Cannon of Star Trek. If every "faction" has territory and a neutral zone--how do you "Boldly Go" anymore----Find some sort of wormhole and get transported a crazy number of light years away from home Blah, Blah |

For me Star Trek Voyager wasn't really that good IMHO and eventhough I saw every episode a lot of them really sucked. But when a certain female came aboard named 7 of 9 that's when things picked up for me. |
Gunfreak | 27 May 2015 12:47 p.m. PST |
I thought voyager was much better on 2nd and 3rd ect. Watching. Yes not as great at tng or ds9, but at least its proper star trek. It makes enterprise look like the crap it is. And enterprise makes the new "star trek" movies look like something a diseased cat would cough up. I want more tng universe, i want too see what happenes after nemesis and the dominion war (what really happens not the they used as an excuse to launch the movies) |

I'm re-watching Voyager now, and it is no better or worse than other Trek. One thing I will say about Enterprise is that it did have a few good eps season 1, but didn't really get good until season 4. If you skipped the last season because of the first 3, it pays to go back and watch. Just skip the last ep, which betrays any of the creative development of Ent as a stand alone show… Damon. |

I pretty much agree with Gunfreak. It certainly had its moments. The Finale was a disappointment though. |

I liked Voyager and DS9 too … too bad the 'n SyFy Chan does show them … |

Never cared for Voyager, always hoped Janeway would get fragged or something. DS9 was more tolerable. |

I'm a Star Trek fan, but the only Trek I can really stand is the original and the last few season's of TNG. I did enjoy the last season of Enterprise as it was written for the fans. |
Mako11 | 27 May 2015 6:01 p.m. PST |
It was okay, but I too was looking forward to Janeway, and/or Picard getting fragged/disintegrated in their respective series. |
Tgerritsen | 27 May 2015 6:04 p.m. PST |
I never got the hate for Janeway. She seemed to be a fine captain (except for a few episodes where she would flip out for no real reason) trying to cope with the dual threats of unknown aliens and bad writing from week to week. I feel like the franchise felt more and more milked of it's heart with each series- especially after Roddenberry died. Enterprise had a fantastic premise and a chance to truly go back to what made Trek great to begin with, but then squandered it by that stupid temporal cold war premise, awful casting (the main cast I thought was fine, but every alien race seemed like a caricature and the Vulcans went from feeling alien and wise to emo little whiners badly miscast as pretty people from around LA with odd ear jobs). I just re-watched it and the show does pick up during the 4th season, but by then they had pretty much given up the promise of the original premise (we are just stepping out into a wider world in a ship that may or may not work that well) and traded it in for basically a rehash of TNG. Fans wanted to see how the Federation started and how the Earthers fought the Romulans with their old tech. By the end of the 1st season everyone's jumping into the transporter, firing phase cannons at anything that moves and calling home in real time. Even TOS took days or weeks to get a message home when the ship was further out. By the time we did get to see the Romulans, they are somehow remotely piloting advanced super ships in real-time all the way from Romulus. Ugh. There were some great episodes in that 4th season, though. I recently rewatched the last few seasons of Voyager (I felt the first two seasons were a bit of a mess) and I did enjoy it ok, but Seven Nine was really 2 of Chest from the moment she stepped on board and every episode turned into the 7 show. I actually felt bad for Jeri Ryan as it was so blatant. Loved DS9, except for the holosuite episodes. I hated how they abused that premise so much, especially during the final season. I feel like Sisko was a great captain. |
Captain Gideon | 27 May 2015 6:32 p.m. PST |
TGerritsen I enjoyed the episodes with Jeri Ryan but I would have to disagree with you regarding your 2 of chest comment. There were other female characters like Janeway and the Klingon woman(I can't remember her name) however I did very much liked Jeri Ryan in that Silver outfit. |

I liked DS9 as it progressed. I greatly enjoyed the Dominion War. TNG was mostly ok. Definitely tied to its real world times. I like Patrick Stewart as an actor. Some Picard episodes were quite good. Many had him equivocating way too much. I really lIked the Klingon Civil war and internal Klingon strife. Worf is the man…….so to speak. Voyager was the weakest of a the Trek series. Liked a few of the characters excluding Janeway. Enterprise was not good until the last 2 or 3 years. Then it seemed to find its legs. Temporal War was crap. Thanks, John |

Captain, Oh, I liked her, have no doubt. It was just a bit too obvious what they were going for. The super high heels didn't help. |

Yes you're right the super high heels didn't help but they didn't hurt either:). |

Voyager had much better interpersonal dialogue and interplay than most ST series; it was the aliens and situations they were thrown into that made it disappointing. I really liked a lot of the individual characters -- Robert Picardo was awesome as the EMH, and the interactions between Paris and Kim were always fun -- but the Hirogens looked like they had smeared glue on their heads and rolled around on the floor of the local barbershop and too many of the alien races were monolithic and uninspired. I disliked TNG from the beginning and it only got worse. Too touchy-feely, with a counselor on the bridge (with its damned carpet and lounge chairs), kids in daycare down below, all the androids and alien half-breeds struggling with their humanity and/or desire to be more human… It just didn't have the military feel that I enjoyed about TOS, or even the feeling that they were pushing the frontiers of exploration. It was too comfortable; instead of being "wagon train to the stars", it was "Love Boat to the stars". Picard was an awesome captain, possibly the most captainly captain on any ST series, but there was still too much politically-correct navel-gazing and hand-wringing involved. And the Holodeck -- Worst. Plot device. Ever. DS9 was something of a drag at the beginning, and Avery Brooks (Sisko) was never captain material. He was a lousy choice for the lead on that series. Still, DS9 improved as it went along and there was some great exploration of interspecies issues (plus the Dominion War and occupation were pretty cool). I liked that the aliens weren't entirely monolithic. Enterprise… so much unfulfilled promise. T'Pal should have fallen into the warp core after the first episode, and the entire Temporal War storyline was awful. I was really hoping that ENT would recapture the thrilling adventure feel of TOS, but it never really took off in that regard. |
Ghostrunner | 28 May 2015 9:07 a.m. PST |
To me the missed opportunity with Enterprise was they should have done the 'JJ Star Trek' reboot with that series. Temporal Cold War? Fine. Episode 1, we find out someone is messing with the timeline. NX-01? She was supposed to blow up on her maiden voyage due to a faulty warp core. That's the reason no one ever mentioned her. But for some reason she didn't. What's going on here? Bring back the Gorn, the Tholians, Cardassians, Romulans. Continuity is out the window now that we've said the timeline in honked. |
Bob Runnicles | 28 May 2015 11:52 a.m. PST |
What's ironic for me is that all the TNG-era shows operated 'in reverse' to the classic show – TOS hit the ground running with an awesome first and second season then the wheels kinda came off with the third season and that was all she wrote. All the TNG shows? First two-three season were crap, then the shows took off from season four on. Imagine if they had operated under the same time limit that TOS did, they'd have been cancelled before they had a chance to get going. TNG got better once Tasha died, Riker grew the beard and they got Dr Crusher back (although it took years to get over the Wesley effect). Also, The Best of Both Worlds :) DS9 was initially dull but improved once Sisko grew the goatee, then really took off when he shaved his head. Voyager was utter e until they dumped the Kazon, then it ascended to 'okay' status. Too much Borg though almost ruined it. Enterprise had so much potential but blew it all until season 4 when it suddenly got really good, but by then the damage was done and the audience had beamed off to other shows. |
javelin98 | 28 May 2015 2:21 p.m. PST |
Excellent points, Mr. Runnicles! Methinks we need to institute a Goatee Rule for any new ST series. |
Gunfreak | 28 May 2015 3:20 p.m. PST |
I don't get the "enterprise got good in season 4" Every story lines in season 4 was boring but worse each storyline lasted 2-4 episodes.. How many ing episodes did they drag out the augment story, man those were boring. Season 4 should have started and ended in episode one, with riker waking up saying. that was a bad and way to long boring dream, then season 8 of tng could start, and enterprise removed from canon of star trek. |
Col Durnford | 29 May 2015 7:58 a.m. PST |
The best Enterprise was the two parter when they were from Imperial Earth. If you didn't see it, do so now. Great opening with the first contact with the Vulcans. |
Balthazar Marduk | 29 May 2015 8:47 a.m. PST |
Ron Moore should have had full creative control from the moment he signed on. Brannon Braga pee'd away a beautiful opportunity to show the Federation in a completely different light. Instead, it was crammed with fanboish idealism and optimistic nonsense. |

Berman and Braga were the two worst catastrophes to ever be inflicted on the Star Trek franchise. |
