I just finished 6 stands of French Chasseurs a Cheval from Nineteenth Century Miniatures' (Old Glory 15s) Franco-Prussian range. The 16 troopers in the pack come in several poses, with horses at rest (I've added a few horses that are charging).
[/URL] The Osprey volume depicts a Chasseur without the cord on his busby. In this image, the artist shows that it was worn on campaign.

Nice looking regiment. I'm still doing infantry as it's nice to leave the best (cavalry) to last. |

It's not a surprise to hear that you are waiting to do cavalry last (same as me). It seems that, like the American Civil War, the outcome of this conflict was largely decided by large masses of infantry supported by artillery. Aside from throwing the occasional costly cavalry charge into my table top infantry battles, however, I'm interested in using mine for cavalry v. cavalry skirmishes. |

Mars la Tour is definitely on the agenda. But I also enjoy creating imaginary 'what if' scenarios. For example, one that I've done with ACW is to begin a game with a cavalry skirmish and then have it develop into a more set-piece engagement as artillery infantry units are fed into the battle. Die rolls determine if, when and where these infantry units are permitted to enter. |
