This bank holiday Monday saw a match up of French and Prussians using the Blucher rules for the first time (plus a game of the 1987 classic board game Thunder Road), more pictures and the like on my blog: link Thanks for looking!!

Yes, Thunder Road. I should have that game in the storage unit. That was an awesome old school game, though I bet my fond memories are better than actual game play. I had forgotten about the helicopter in the game. Thanks for the nostalgia. Chris |

I'm fairly certain it's an autogyro… ;->= I recall trying to take the pieces and use with Micro Machine Micros for either Car Wars or Dark Future. Nice to see a game where you run out of wrecks for wrecks. Now to go find out more about 'Blucher'. Thanks! Doug |

I'd love to hear more about how combat in Blucher actually works. |

Thanks Guys, in the case of Thunder Road, nostalgia wasn't ruined. The game play is quick and simple and clean. And most of all fun! And yep, it's a gyrocopter. The combat in Blucher works really well, there is shooting, which is pretty ineffective, but good at wearing enemies down before going for the attack. The attack is pretty simple, both attackers and defenders roll the amount of dice equal to their current 'elan' score (which reduces throughout the game), any score over 4 is a 'hit'. Then the attacker and defender compare the amount of hits, the winner being the one with the most. If it is equal then the defender is deemed to have won. Depending on which one has won, the loser retreats, loses some Elan (the difference in the hits) or is broken if their elan drops below 1. The winner also loses elan as well, from battle fatigue. Very simple, but very effective and rewards patience and combined ops. It's very attritional and charging fresh and prepared troops with cavalry is not the done thing… |

Where can I get this game? Thunder road, that is. I have Blucher. |

eBay, mostly. Doug Edit: By the way, the non-crash vehicles all come simply colored: black inner piece, faction color outer. The crashed are just black. Really nice paint-and-decals there! |

As TheBeast said, Dean picked his copy up from EBay for about ten quid. And yes, the vehicles come unpainted. |
