Odd that the Civil War, for which the holiday was instituted, is not included.

Rest in Peace.

My family and I made our usual trip to the Marine Corps Museum for a couple of hours of reflection.

The chapel there is nice.

I usually spend Memorial Day quietly remembering Brad, Chris, Banks and the other friends who didn't make it home. This year was different. I spent today with the wife at the ER after she was thrown from her horse. Back home now with a mild concussion and lots of bruises.

I visited my 95 year-old uncle, who bombed up B-24s in England. A 500 lb bomb fell on his head but failed to take him out. He wonders why he's still here, since he's outlived all of the men and women in his family by quite a few years. It seemed to me that Memorial Day might be better spent talking with the still-living rather than about the departed….
