So this is perhaps me asking for both cake and pie, but I'm wondering if anyone has a link or blog post or the like where they've come up with stats/army lists for models from this or that range for games that allow DIY models/army lists.

ie has someone, say, made an army list or statted up Rebel's Sahadeen for Fireteam Andromeda, or come up with some thematic use for GZG's UNSC-L for PMC 2640?

Basically of late I've been having a hard time looking at a set of rules and then a bunch of minis (and I've got quite models from a lot of 15mm and a few 28mm ranges) and thinking of how I want to use the latter in the former.

Maybe I'm approaching this backwards, and should just watch/read a few more combative sci-fi things and get inspired by a scenario, but of late I've just been feeling at a bit of a loss after painting a number of models as to what exactly to do with them – basically outside of club nights, I've got a few friends who are quite eager to play a game if invited around, but I'm pretty much the one who puts something together for the evening, else we'll just go have a pint or play board games.

I have done Rezolution's APAC for Vor:the Maelstrom, if that is what you mean.

I don't like writing ORBAT's, so I usually just copy something sort of historical.

"3 squads, 1 leader, 1 or 2 heavy weapons in each squad, go!" :)

I could make a random scifi platoon generator though ;)

Maybe this is a part of the "Hobby" (tm) that I just don't understand, probably because I mostly play solo. Why not come up with an army list for what you want to play and put down the minis that look close enough? Those little lead guys you spent so many hours getting ready to game with really are just markers that tell the players where stuff is and vaguely what it can do. So the guy with a grenade launcher tonight can be the guy with a plasma blaster tomorrow (yes, it LOOKS like a grenade launcher, but the stat card says it's a plasma launcher). Of course this is only my opinion and it's worth every penny you spent on it.
