Miniature Wargames with Battlegames is now owned by Warners Group plc.
A full announcement will be made soon, but I remain in post as Editor/Designer of the magazine and I am very excited about its future prospects.

For the time being, as readers/subscribers you won't notice any difference at all – Warners have been printing and distributing the magazine for a very long time, and I shall be carrying on business as usual.

Warners Group have a huge presence in the magazine market – many of the titles you see on high street shelves are owned, printed and distributed by them, including the new TableTop Gaming magazine, which will be our sister publication.

Henry, obviously it must be something that ensures a better future if it has your full confidence, so that is good and you are still there so that is also good.

I had not heard of TableTop Gaming magazine, but I have just researched the Facebook page and it sounds like a great idea. The Euro type game is gaining ground, so I think there will be a significant audience.

Best Wishes Henry

Sounds like great news!

Glad everything is continuing – but what is this TableTop Gaming magazine of which you speak?

Is it cards and collectible miniatures and board games and stuff ?

Does "Euro type game" mean a participation game? Just curious.

IUsedToBeSomeone22 May 2015 8:05 a.m. PST

A Euro game is a boardgame such as Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, etc.

The slightly more complex boardgame than Monopoly or Risk…

Congratulations and good luck!

As per other thread – good luck Henry, hope this stays a positive news story.

Much prefer a mag than blogs, as I am lucky to find the right blog, and then often forget them/lose them.

Magazines rule IMHO

Good luck Henry, hope your sister publication remains so and you don't become conjoined twins!

Hmm…I'd read that. maybe not every issue…but looks interesting.

Glad to hear you're still in the editorial chair, Henry!

Interestingly, I've noticed that the cover of WI now boasts that it is the premier table top gaming magazine – is this significant? Or is TTG thought to be less contentious than 'wargaming'?

battleeditor26 May 2015 8:12 a.m. PST

Arthur — Wargames Illustrated has used that strapline for years.

And TTG is aimed mostly at the boardgaming market, with some stuff about F/S-F miniatures gaming.

And now read this month's Waterloo issue – worth it for the insight into the Museum's restoration approach to Siborne, and great to see an article like this in a wargames mag.

Dear Henry

My hopes are for a bright future for you in this new environment.

However…. we shall see…

Historically these things have not ended well.

As a battle scarred veteran of corporate feudalism and it's wars, it will all depend on who you report to.

But I do wish you luck and success.

Thanks Otto. Have replied to your kind PM.

Thanks indeed to all of you for your very kind comments. As you can imagine – and now have ample proof – the world of the magazine editor is a precarious one, so it's nice to know that one has so much moral support.

Lots of change in the magazine market, just now. I hope it goes very well for you, Henry!
