hi all, can anyone recommend a good matt varnish? Preferably a brush on. I have some extremely shiny Germans (plastics by the way) in need of flattening down.

I've always found the bottled Humbrol matt varnish to be reliable. For some reason the tinlet variety is more variable, so should be avoided.

I've had a lot of success with Winsor & Newton Galeria matt varnish (I get it from Art suppliers)and found it better than Humbrol without brush cleaning issues (it's a brushon acrylic) It does need a very good shake to mix before use as the matting agent does tend to settle a bit
