"SHOULD TMP produce its own merchandise for sale " Topic

Given the this website is mostly about miniatures, should TMP produce its own merchandise for sale that epitomises all that is good about TMP and its membership? It could be a moderately successful fund raising enterprise.

I know that one site in particular produces a miniature black and white coloured cat. Personally, I like the idea of a coyote – similar to the cartoon character Wiley Coyote of Warner Bros fame. Ha, ha, I would most certainly not suggest a rat on a sinking ship!

Tee-shirts, mugs, posters, maybe even a chess-set with figures sculpted to represent some Big-Hitter individuals on TMP, past and present.

What miniature figure do you suggest could be appropriate?

I'd wear the T-shirt if it was simple and tasteful.

I would buy a t-shirt, coffee cup, etc., to support the site.

TMP can sell anything it wants, but I don't buy bling from game companies, I doubt I would buy bling here. That doesn't keep Bill from going that route, just being honest here about what I personally am interested and not interested in buying.

Those of us with limited wardrobe choices, due to being persons of size, might appreciate a miniature wargaming themed fashion collection of XXXL-sized t-shirts, polo-shirts, short and long-sleeved oxford shirts, faux-medieval bathrobes, sweat-pants, speedos, muumuus, and so on. In my opinion.

Makes no never mind to me, but I won't buy it. I don't advertise for other people.

No thanks. I've never been a fan of "logo" shirts. So I would not buy one. From the looks of the way the thread is shaping up, it looks like I'm not alone.

It's not just directing people to the site – it's also about signaling to others that you may have a common interest. That's what my Iron Maiden and Thomas Sowell t-shirts do.

Logo'd painting supplies would be nice.

Things along the lines of Matakishi's Tea House Cat would be cool and I would buy them but clothing? No.

I mean, you can set this stuff up pretty cheap and easy nowadays.

I like the idea that a long-term membership renewal (of whatever length Bill finds cost-effective) should get you a TMP supporting member pin.

Thongs is at first hilarious (I nearly spewed my hot beverage) and then, as the picture gradually coalesces in the mind, horrifying.

I'm not much of a merchandise guy, so I wouldn't be a customer for this sort of thing.

Bill used to have a way to have your screen name w/TMP logo underneath that you could print for and wearing it as a sticker or badge at conventions if you wished.

Shipping would probably cost more than the product.

If the proceeds help improve TMP, then sure why not. I would not restrict it to TMP only merchandise. Have some gaming or historical specific shirts and caps for people to wear while gaming.

Hey, heres an idea a small charge for the trade to advertise.

Limited edition miniatures would be the way to go. Wasn't there some call for a Bill and his Angels figure set a while ago? Why not go with that.

If Hasslefree could be persuaded to do it they'd look stonking.

Hey I've got it… a chess set representing TMP on one side and Frothers on the other!!

Both sites members would buy them, profits could be split between them, and all future "disagreements" settled over a nice genteel game of chess and a large Cognac in the library (or alternatively with the lead piping in the ballroom…). :O)

I suppose TMP could market its own tchotchkes (there are sites that'll do that for you), but as to why is beyond me (I know I would never buy such stuff).

Perhaps a set of TMP personalities, in both zombie-fighter and zombified variants?
