What kind of AA guns did the British use to provide cover for their ground troops in 1982 when they landed on Falkland? I know they have one Rapier battery, and most likely Blowpipe MANPADs, but I'm not certain on any AA guns (40mm Bofors?) Once they moved inland from San Carlos Water they were out of the coverage of shipboard AA guns and the lone Rapier battery which I understand was positioned to cover the landing site only.

None listed here, only Rapier and Blowpipe.

Bofors were all retired by then ,only 7.62 mm GPMG's……….the .50 was acquired from Argentinian stocks and quickly re-adopted for general issue…….after the war enough 35 mm Oerlikens were captured to equip an RAF Regt squadron………

Wow, good thing the Argentine focused their air power on the landing site and not CAS.

Great PDF jekinder6, that goes to my OrBat folder.

Wow, good thing the Argentine focused their air power on the landing site and not CAS.

There was no way they could use most of their air power for CAS – the jets operating from the mainland simply didn't have the loiter time for it – they only had the legs to get there, offload their ordanance in a hurry and leave. The Pucaras could and did operate in a CAS role out of Goose Green, Pebble Island and Port Stanley, but were too vulnerable to have a major impact.
