It seems in discussion after discussion, "free speech" gets brought up. I have compiled every possible instance where free speech applies to you, on the internet. Are you ready? You might want to get a drink because this will be long. Still with me? Here goes: * * * * * The government (probably) won't arrest you for saying or writing stuff. * * * * * That ends the list. You will notice that many things are not included above. These include: A right to not be fired, banned, kicked out, shunned or called an idiot. A right to an audience. A right to a platform. |

A right to not be fired, banned, kicked out, shunned or called an idiot. We do, however, have to abide by the rules of the forum, which means that we cannot call people idiots. Or rather, we can, but Bill could apply administrative punishment if he so desires. |

Rebelyell2006 – unless you are trying to agree with Weasel you will need to reread his post. |

I agree with him, but I am pointing out how we are free to call people idiots. It just has ramifications here, which does give members here a special privilege of not being called idiots. |

also add "how would you game this and in what scale?" |

I'd game the Free Speech Internet wars in 17mm, using a hybrid of Warmaster and Striker. |

I have done it successfully with my own house rules that are a combination of "The Sword and the Haggis" and " Harpoon", with the Angry Bear rules from WRG 5th ed. |

"how would you game this and in what scale?" As wargamers, we game this pretty much all the time and everywhere. It consists of knowing that there is a rule book somewhere, not reading it or any of the related material, and assuming VERY LOUDLY that it means what you want it to mean at this particular moment. |

Also make sure to misremember the rule, only read the first half of the paragraph and finally insist that "there's some errata that changes it" if all else fails :-) |

Iirc the original "Free Speakisist War" was fought between the Speak as You Willites and the How Dare You Say Thaters. As the theatre of war was lost in a fold in the map, terrain is uncertain but as a lot of hot air was involved it seems probable that dirigibles or balloons were deployed. I was thinking of using World In Flames, full campaign and optional rules of course. |
Weasel | 23 May 2015 1:15 p.m. PST |
World in Flames, double-blind, using a Polish version of the game rules and limiting players to one rulebook look up/translation per day. You should get plenty of speech going on then :) |

But you DO have tools you can use to break through free speech roadblocks, at least occasionally. I suggest you folks google "Tor router". Also good for maintaining your privacy on leaky websites like (unfortunately) TMP. |
