I am thinking of doing Ragnarok in 6mm using HOTT. Microworld has just about everything I need but does not have the gods, except maybe Thor and Odin. Now, I am not sure if the gods should be regular sized 6mm figures. I am thinking a tad bigger. So, my question is can anyone suggest 6mm or slightly higher figures that could work for the Norse gods? Or does someone make them in this size? |

15 or 28mm might be a "godly" size for 6mm mortals. sorry, not a very helpful response. |

What about using something from a 10mm range, Pendraken or Magister Militum perhaps? The Norse gods were generally the same size as the humans they encountered when they were roaming, so you could go with a 10mm range for added impact or just use 6mm. I could not find a Norse figure with a hammer to be Thor, but you could perhaps add a blob of milliput or greenstuff to an axe for that. The other male gods are relatively easy, because you just need a mailed warrior with the appropriate signature weapon. |

For Thor and Odin in HotT I would just pick some nice 15mm Vikings with appropriate dress and posing. Obviously Thor has to have a hammer, but that could be an axeman with some modifications. Odin's eye patch can be painted on, or maybe you put a small blob of putty there. If you look for an official Thor and Odin you'll look a long time and have limited choices. Just find some regular guys in the wrong scale. If this were a skirmish game I wouldn't have T & O be twice the size of the other figures. The resulting geometry issues would not be evocative of the source material. But in HotT they're going on the same bases anyway. Pictures when you're done! I have Microworld Games Norse figures, but they're not painted yet. They're awesome. Those people have 6mm figured out. |

I not just looking for Thor or Odin. But a number of the gods and goddess that were at Ragnor. I thought about going 10mm but, again, the same problem, does anyone do Norse gods or a reasonable facsimile. Also, nothing about the legends state the size of the gods vs men at the battle so I could probably go 6mm. But, then how heroic would they look fighting a 10mm-15mm giant? |

Asgard miniatures used to do a nice Thor – quite Marvelish though. There was a 15mm version as well IIRC. |

The Asgard miniatures Thor is the Asgardian from 15mm.co.uk, I think: link It's more like 20mm than 15mm. |

In Greek and Norse myth the stories of the Gods are ambiguous about their size. Sometimes they are doing oversized, Paul Bunyan-type stuff, other times they are clearly human-sized. I would say that if they have a choice they are oversized in battle. I would say that we're talking about legends and in the legend that would presumably form around the events in your game of HotT they would be oversized. I would say in terms of what looks good on the table and in the pictures oversized is better. 10mm might be better than 15mm, but get what you can and get playing! Finding the goddesses in appropriate poses could be even tougher. Valkyrie are always on their horses. |

Try Irregular Miniatures 6mm Fantasy, Dark Age, Feudal, and maybe Roman/Barbarian ranges. They have some individual heroes in the Fantasy range that may work with some minor modifications for individual gods. Also Amazons and Valkyries. Other champions from the fantasy range are also possibilities. Unfortunately, they do not have photos of all their figures. Baccus Amazon personalities might work for the female goddesses. The Baccus Early medieval range Saxon and Viking leaders might work also. |

I thought this was my post. I am also doing a Viking HoTT army complete with the Norse pantheon. Microworld games makes a Odin and a Thor model. I have a Microworld games Norse command pack and a Baccus 6mm Viking Loonies and Luminaries pack. I believe that with a little creativity you can do most of the pantheon in 6mm. I wish I had pictures of these ideas. It exists in words only at this point. At 6mm you could do all the Norse Gods very easily. The MwG pack has a viking with a big horn. He could be the god with the horn. I cannot remember his name. The one handed god with the magic sword is easy. Find a suitable sword model and chop off the hand. I believe one of the models has a sword and an empty left hand. My MwG Thor model is going to be paired with a Baccus 6mm Celtic chariot. His goats will be made out of green stuff. Odin will have that 8 legged horse of his. I am still not sure how I am going to model it. Odin will be dismounted though. The girl gods are tougher. Baccus 6mm has some ancients civilian packs. There are women in those packs that could be used. With some converting they could look more warlike. The Germanic civilians pack has a woman holding a big bowl thing on her hip. You could check the Irregular 6mm range. They may have some battle gals that fit your fancy. I think 6mm is a great scale for the Norse gods. The reason for this is that they fought giants. From what I understand there were large amounts of the giants. If your gods and the einherjar are in 6mm then the giants could be 10mm to 15mm. All you need to do is put on some Swedish Viking metal and have an awesomely scaled battle. You cannot do that with 28s. |

I think the command pack from Microworld actually have Thor and Odin in 6mm. link Certainly a chap with a hammer, and a bearded spearman with a raven on his shoulder. |

The MwG pack has a viking with a big horn. He could be the god with the horn. I cannot remember his name. Ragnar the Horny? (I'm really sorry – really. We need an icon for "I can't believe I typed that..what was I thinking?" ) |

Really ! And I think it was a setup – " a viking with a big horn. He could be the god with the horn" – it's just a trap set for some darn fool to walk into, isn't it? |
