Things have changed. I remember when the CSS Hunley was to be raised. The USS Monitor has also been found around the same time. A Navy officer (O-6 or so) was giving a press conference on the raising of the Monitor's turret and efforts by Navy divers. He was asked why the Navy was not helping with the raising of the CSS Hunley. His response was great: "The United States Navy goes to great effort to put enemy ships on the bottom of the ocean. We are not then going to spend our resources to raise them again." Glad to see this is happening. I just went to the Civil War Naval Museum in Columbus, GA. A GREAT museum. |

Hahahhah great quote, Oddball. But if the plan for CSS Georgia goes forward (wait for it!), the South shall rise again!
