Robotech RPG Tactics is a miniatures skirmish game that may be played in a variety of ways. There are a plethora of different scenarios and special rules you can use or you can play in campaign mode. link |

Nice balanced review. It's really too bad that the time and effort required in assembling and painting the miniatures are too much for most people. Had they gone the pre-fab FFG route like the Star Wars games (X-Wing, Imp. Assault & Armada) this game would've been a lot more popular. |

I have to disagree with the missiles. They are powerful, yes, but then again, they are in the show too. One missile hit in the show and just about anything goes boom! It's hitting with them that's the problem! I've watched many a missile either miss or get blasted out of the sky during gameplay. Heck, I'm getting to where I prefer skipping the missiles except to drain CPs and just going for the guns. As for the assembly, yeah, it's a bother but what else is new? Try building a Flames of War company with lots of grunts and tanks. It takes weeks to put together and paint! With RPG Tactics you have maybe a dozen or so on the UEDF and 30 or so for the Zentraedi and the Zents are pretty simple to assemble. Really its the Valks that are a pain because you need three models to represent one unit on the board. Oh well! Maybe in later waves of the game they'll make simpler figures that need less assembly. |

I have to agree with Tgunner. only the Valkyries are over the top assembly wise. the destroids and zentraedi stuff aren't a whole lot worse then your average GW plastic grunt. but you only need like 12 UEDF models and twice that for zentraedi. I don't think palladium could have done pre-fab/prepainted like FFG. this is there first miniature venture. they aren't a big company like FFG. and they certainly don't have the experience FFG has. plenty of small companies have been completely screwed by trying to do prepaints. Mongoose Publishing(SST, Battlefield Evo) and Rackham are good examples. |

Had they gone the pre-fab FFG route like the Star Wars games (X-Wing, Imp. Assault & Armada) this game would've been a lot more popular. Perhaps, although I would have saved hundreds of dollars as I would not have touched the game if it was prepainted minis, which I hate with a passion. |
