I see in many war gaming blogs and sites (especially for Medieval era) many really good and talented painters painting helmets and visors with color..red-blue etc.
Because i am not aware is this Historically proven?

Lots of evidence for painted helmets and armour both written and in art.

Agreed, based on artistic representations, it appears to have been quite common in the High Middle Ages.

I always thought the coloured helmets was a practical way of stopping rust?A lot of medieval art shows armour painted black.

Possibly, but if you could afford to buy and maintain a warhorse, having a chap to keep your armour clean and oiled wouldn't have been an issue wink

For 13th Century examples google Maciejowski bible … battle scenes throughout, most have a mix of metallic and painted helmets. I think it is likely this depicts contemporary practice …
