This mourning at 8:30am EST my father Jack Coolidge died at 91 at home . My dad was proud of his service in WWII as a US Marine having survived Guam and 72 days on Okinawa fighting the Japanese as part of the 1st Marine Division . My dad was a good guy and we will miss him dearly .

Sincerly , Mark Coolidge

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my father almost 4 years ago at the age of 92. He was an Army WW2 veteran. I'm sure you have many fine memories of you Dad; may he rest in peace.

Sorry for your loss, and the loss of yet another of a generation the likes we will never see again. My Dad, who passed in 1986, also served on Okinawa as a combat engineer with army, receiving two purple hearts in the process. He and a lot of other guys probably said "welcome home, Marine" when they saw your Dad today.

"If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines."

I sorry to hear about your Dad Mark. My Dad died last year at 89. He was also a Marine and was on Guadalcanal. The ranks are growing thin.

Mad Guru21 May 2015 2:33 a.m. PST

Sincere condolences to you and the rest of your family on the loss of your Dad, Mark, may he Rest In Peace. My Dad died in December 2013, also at home. He was 89 and had served with the Army in the Pacific. Even though he was ready to go, it sucked when he went. The good thing is we get to keep the memories.

Weasel23 May 2015 9:11 a.m. PST

Sorry to hear that friend.

If this is any consolation at all, at least he had a long, full life.

Best wishes.

Said a "Semper fi" and "ohraa" just for your father. My heart felt condolences also. They are going fast now !!!!
My father fought in the 1st Marine Division in WW2 as I did in Nam. I lost my father in 1980 and it still hurts.

Myself and my brother would like to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for your kind words . While our father was bed bound for the good part of year , we were able to have long conversations that that may not have happened otherwise .Our father was a great story teller right up to the end, and it was our honor and privelege to have known and loved him .
Regards Jim and Mark Coolidge
