How Long Has It Been Since You've Played A REAL Ancients Game?Probably too long! We played a great Might of Arms game last night at the Rat Palace Redux. Here's the link:

We play Neil Thomas Ancients a lot around here. The last time was a few weeks ago with Mike's Assyrians vs Babylonians.
These are very Old School rules, and huge battles run quite easily.

We have also played Alexander vs Persia and Caesar vs the Britons.

Well done the Lone Stars!

My brain hurts too much playing Ancients rules designed for tournaments.
I started out with WRG 3rd through 6th.
I had fun, but love the Neil Thomas approach.

Nicely done. I had forgotten how large those Hinchliffe chariots were.

Have a soft spot for my Hinchliffes – recently used Assyrian 'light' mediums (large wicker shields) as Chaldean levies for my late Achaemenids. Mixed well with Foundry archers in the rear ranks.

OFM, MoA definitely is NOT a "tournament" set of rules. LOL Any game where it takes longer to set up, open some beers, get the munchies out AND be able to BS during the game, getting to conclusion in 5 game turns is our cuppa'. It works for us and has for over 15yrs. Started playing it, never looked back.

Thanks for the compliments y'all. Mithra…I'm right there with ya' on the chariot size. They're way cool looking on the game table plus were one of the most fun collections I've painted in 30+ years.

Nice to see the old warriors stretch their legs. More photos next time please!

Great stuff – one of the players in our group has the same figures. It's good to see them on the table.
