Which miniatures companies offer the best pricing for their models?

14Bore16 May 2015 4:23 p.m. PST

I'm betting your question is going to be a little vague.
Most figures for your Buck or you'll get this figure while very pricey practically paints itself.

tigrifsgt16 May 2015 4:29 p.m. PST

Gripping Beast, more plastic figures per box than the others, and excellent quality.

HaT, Caeser, Zvezda Red Box – all pretty hard to beat.

In metal – Warrior are much better quality than the price suggests.

Peter Pig for 15s', I do believe…

TiberiusAugustus16 May 2015 5:50 p.m. PST

Legio Heroica hands down. Not too expensive and the minis are amazing. I'd also say some OG15s, can't beat their cheap price.

Old Glory with the Army Card.
Cheaper than plastics.

Old Glory 15s.

Also depends upon their shipping costs, especially if overseas, given the high international delivery costs now, in many cases.

eM4 plastic 28mm are great value.

Blue Moon 15mm with the Army card. Good sculpts at $.30 USD apiece? Yes please.

Bashytubits16 May 2015 10:12 p.m. PST

Blue Moon, Old Glory with the army card as mentioned before, Khurasan and Rebel miniatures. There doesn't seem to be all that much love for Wargames Factory but they are an excellent value, plus I think all of the newer stuff is quite nicely sculpted. I almost forgot Pico armor is about as inexpesive as they come, another example of fine products from people who give good service.

MadDrMark17 May 2015 2:18 a.m. PST

Old Glory 25mm clock in at about $.70 USD per miniature with the Army card. For building an army, you can't beat that.

GildasFacit Sponsoring Member of TMP17 May 2015 3:38 a.m. PST

Rapier Miniatures 6mm.

Just got a Trojan army from them : 240 foot figures and 13 chariots for £13.00 GBP

That's around the same as a box of 28mm plastics but you get a full army.

JimDuncanUK17 May 2015 6:04 a.m. PST

I always thought companies like Kallistra (12mm) who sold 6 packs for the price of 5 were great news, think a fiver per unit.

Pendraken (10mm) stuff is quite cost effective too.

JSchutt17 May 2015 6:40 a.m. PST

Calculating Old Glory costs without figuring in the cost of the card is why education in America is failing our youth.

Yesthatphil17 May 2015 6:46 a.m. PST

For value it is hard to beat Black Hat's 15mm range @ 10 figures for £2.50 GBP … that's 25p each vs say PP's 38p or Essex's 42p. If you pick the ranges that were originally sculpted by Josef Ochmann for Metal Magic they are also still some of the best.

Generally I think all the smaller scale ranges (15 down to 6 or less) are exceptional value for money … and also 20mm/1:72 plastics … meaning wargaming remains one of the most accessible leisure activities around.

In a way I'd like to see the prices go up a bit so that the companies could see a bigger reward, invest in their ranges and share in the pleasure they all give us.

For 25/28mm, it is hard to beat Old Glory, at least as long as you are in the US. Given that the CARD discount is 40%, an order of a little over $100 USD recoups the cost. I tend to renew every other year and concentrate my buying in the year that the card is in effect.

Even without the card, their pricing is very favorable, and there are other discounts available as well without the card.

DPC for the RSM SYW figs 25mm

Weasel17 May 2015 3:33 p.m. PST

I don't notice huge differences in 15mm, but the Command Decision range certainly has a lot of bang for your buck

Griefbringer18 May 2015 8:11 a.m. PST

Perrys tend to provide very nicely sculpted figures for reasonable prices. Not exactly the cheapest figures out there, but good value for money.

In the USA, Nineteenth Century Miniatures (Battle Honors/OldGlory15s) seems to have the best deal around. You qualify for the same 40% discount that Old Glory 25s/Blue Moon offers if your order meets/exceeds $400.00 USD. There is no requirement to purchase a $50.00 USD membership card.

Stepman318 May 2015 1:54 p.m. PST

Old Glory for metal and HaT for 1:72 plastics…Blue Moon for 15mm.

MST3Klover18 May 2015 10:57 p.m. PST

I think Perry's are the best bang for the buck. But Old Glory are awesome value, especially command decision. I certainly have lots of both.

1st Place: Old Glory 15s.

Honourable Mention: Tin Soldier; whenever I buy their 15mm Hoplites, some of the packages have up to 11 figures (8 is the number of record).

BlackWidowPilot Fezian21 May 2015 4:29 p.m. PST

Reviresco and RebelMinis jumpt to mind immediately. For plastics Wargames Factory and HaT, but PSC IMHO is nipping at their heels with their sets of quick build tanks and such for the sheer variety of optional bits and crew figures they include.

Over in the UK there's EM4 who has the old plastic figures from Grenadier and ICE, and the re-released Space Lords figures on principle, as IMHO they're timeless classics.evil grin

Wargames Factory, especially the Dark Ages figures simply because of all the things you can do with that simple base …

+1 for Wargames Factory

Reaper's going to start Bones III KS on July 7th, so that should be some good value!

Johnny Lauck's KS campaigns are old school but also good value.
