My two daughters, 7 and 9 yrs old, are enjoying this anime series and it has sparked their interest in recreating some of the matches they've seen in the show. For those who haven't seen it, the cartoon is a high school sports drama where all girl teams compete in the "traditional art of tankery". So I'm looking for a set of suitable rules. Scale will be either 28mm or 1/72 as larger models catch their attention. The rules should handle platoon size fights of armor, say 2-5 tanks per side. Emphasis should be simplicity, to match their age, but also simulator-ish, to give them the sense they are actually operating an armored vehicle. I'm inclined to try Manoeuvre Group but there's not a lot of info on it. Any suggestions? |

Hell Hath No Fury by 2 Hour Wargames is pure tank on tank at the platoon level. I have never seen the show, so I don't know if the needed tank stats are covered. But considering what is covered it wouldn't be hard to stat up anything else. |

I'm using a bastardized version of FoW for my GuP tanks, but I'm going to take a look at Ed's rules that HyperBunny suggested. Wyatt (who made some of the Company B insignia) |

BAMeyer, Thanks for the decal link, that will beat the heck out of freehanding them. |

The good news is that 28mm tanks are coming out of the woodwork nowadays if you are thinking of that scale. At one point I thought a 28mm 38(t) would never see the light of day. |

I could not find any WWII rules that recreated the kind of matches they have in the series so wrote my own. We have been having a lot of fun with them, a 5-a-side elimination or 10-a-side flag tank game normally take under an hour and a half. Rules link Stats link These were written for 15mm tanks but it would be easy to adjust the move and close range distances for other scales. It took a while to get the rules balanced so that a team of light and medium tanks can beat a team of superheavy tanks, I have no idea whether they are simple enough for children though. We have come up with some rules for tankettes but Anzio are still being painted so these are just a draft that have not been playtested; link |

Thanks Twig66, that's awesome, I'll give them a shot. Kinda know I'm on the right forum when people have not only seen the series but developed their own rules for it. |

I've been working on this for a while but not gotten all the way to a game, sadly. I intend to use Chain of Command from TooFatLardies when I do, they are easy to teach and intuitive when you get going. I am doing it in 1/72 scale (aka 20mm) using the Company B decals that BAMayer links to above. link link |

There has been a bit of discussion on TMP about GuP before. Some constructive, some…less so. As the search function on TMP is crap, I suggest using the "site:" function in google instead. site: TMP link "girls und panzer" And be aware that some people do not get anime. At all. And they say so. At length. |
