I recently completed two Plastic Soldier Company Halftracks for the long-winded Stalingrad project.

There's more pictures on the blog as usual:

Thanks for looking!

I see the German war machine is working night and day to keep up production! Superb work as always its always a pleasure to read your posts and drool at your eye candy

I share braken's enthusiasm towards your work. I do try not to drool, however, as I share this computer with others…

Abwehrschlacht16 May 2015 5:36 a.m. PST

LOL, thanks guys, don't drool too much! You're both too kind!

Like the paint job but bewildered at the bases.

Abwehrschlacht17 May 2015 6:54 a.m. PST

Thanks, there are those that like bases on vehicles and those that don't. I happen to be in the former camp.

I'm leaning more towards bases on 20mm…..stops Fingers From groping your paintwork and makes storage easy.

Do you use a standard Base size for your models?

Abwehrschlacht18 May 2015 6:52 a.m. PST

Bases make sense, you put figures on bases? Why not vehicles? It also allows for a 'shadow' on the vehicle, so you can use it for measuring accurately. Like you say they also stop damage from fingers and storage, there is a million plus points for bases.

Not really, I standardize them for each type of vehicle, as I usually paint several of the same types of vehicle at once, but not much beyond that!

I think there are many good points against bases, but it is a personal issue, and not one which can be decided by appeals to reason.

Do the PSC halftracks come with the stowage gear? They're a nice way of personalizing the vehicles.

Well I can't think of "many" good points against bases for vehicles. The main one would be vehicles with a grassy base positioned on a road, but I can live with that for the small amount of time that that happens.

Just examine Piers Brand's work (sorry Alex!) and tell me that based vehicles don't look good.

Abwehrschlacht19 May 2015 8:40 a.m. PST

Tuscaloosa, you're right it's a personal preference. That's the bottom line. Yep, the 251s come with some very nice stowage, including kit bags, weapons and jerry cans.

Deephorse, don't apologise, Piers' stuff is amazing.
