New Kickstarter for a series of gaming mats in various sizes: link link The mats are pretty cheap. Unfortunately the company makes the mistake of putting pre-printed terrain on many of the mats. That's annoying: Just give us a clean backdrop and let us provide the terrain. Link: link |

This seems a hard way to get into what is already a very crowded and well served product segment. HotzMats, Cigar Box, CoreSec, Zuzzy, Monday Knight etc. etc. I wish them luck in any case. |

I still haven't found a low/mid range with cheap shipping to ROTW. |

"This seems a hard way to get into what is already a very crowded and well served product segment. HotzMats, Cigar Box, CoreSec, Zuzzy, Monday Knight etc. etc." Except they are cheaper than any of the one you mentioned, with the exception of Monday Knight. That said, the person behind this isn't providing many details, so be wary. I went ahead and backed but may pull out if we don't get more info in the future. |

These are cheaper because they are just vinyl signs. The new wave of neoprene mats FAT Mats and Gamemats.eu are much more durable and lay flat. |

Not much good, 6 and 8 foot maps only ship to the US. Your loss. just noticed 3'x4' mat $30 USD ships outside of the US $45 USD! |

Hi, If you anyone has any questions about the GameMatz kickstarter let me know. I apologize in advance if it is against board rules for me to chime in. Since May 16th I added more information to the project along with photos of the mat material. It is a entry level vinyl game mat and phase one of our official launch. I am excited to announce that GameMatz will be launching our ProMatz line of premium gaming mats in July 2015. It's not a giant mouse pad, it is heavy-duty industrial grade table armor for hardcore gaming. I have taken some demo mats around to a couple of dozen games stores & expos and have had so much positive feedback. Over and over I have heard the same thing, that these are the best gaming mats they have ever seen. If any of you will be at the Phoenix Comic con we are providing the official gaming mats for the game room along with a lot of give aways. It would be a great opportunity to check the ProMatz out and maybe win one. The ProMatz will have all the same designs as the VinylMatz plus a whole lot more to choose from. The price on the ProMatz will be about double the price of the VinylMatz and we will be releasing starter pricing on them closer to the launch. You can check out the ProMatz here |

After further thought, I canceled my pledge. The creator isn't satisfyingly answering any of the questions people are posing. Also, he seems to be using this kickstarter just to advertise another upcoming kickstarter for better mats. Just doesn't smell right. |

Hi Double W, I am sorry to hear that you feel that way. I really do appreciate you originally backing the project and starting this thread. Thank you! I believe I have answered everyones questions on kickstarter, though I have had limited internet access since Thursday because I have been volunteering 10+ hours a day at Comicon. Yes you are correct, we are doing two kickstarters and the reason for that is the first one is geared for gamers that would like an entry level vinyl game mat for as low as $16. USD The second kickstarter we will be introducing the first ever industrial grade gaming terrain mat and I felt it would not be fair to NOT give backers a chance to know their options. The two materials are for two totally different type of gamers and there is a price difference, where the 3x3 vinyl is as low as $16 USD, the ProMatz (industrial grade) 3x3 will be around $60 USD ($80 retail). Though all the gamers at Comicon who played on our demo mats told me that is way too low of a price for the quality of the mat. If you have any questions about anything let me know. I will try and answer them as quick as I can. Warmest Regards, Brian |

They seem to have the funding and the momentum. $7,187 USD pledged of $1,000 USD goal I went Early Bird, even though $12 USD USA shipping for a $20 USD mat mat me concerned. We will see. I have uses for water, stars, snow, as a surface for basic aerial and naval games so this seems worth exploring. Free hex grid seems potentially useful also. |
