Is there a sword and flame variant or something along similar lines that allows you to play smaller skirmish sized battles from this theater? I have Age of Reason but it is meant for larger battles. |

Here is a list of TSATF variants: sergeants3.com/2.html John the OFM might have a suggestion or two for you; I am sure he will be along. |

I (John the OFM) am a big advocate of using TSATF vanilla, right out of the book with minimal changes. I jokingly call it The Sword and the Haggis. Piper909 has done a little more work to draw up The Sword and the Heather, with period flavor. Ask him. |

I'm with Winston. The rules really wouldn't need many changes to work very well for the '45. Bits in the scenario could be used to provide the period feel. Oh, and I love the title The Sword and the Haggis! Very well done. |

I bought "Raise the Clans" by Martin Hackett, and these have lots of features which I like (but I am very "old school"). I am still painting figures so have not play tested them yet. So far I have Cope's Army at Prestonpans complete and should have the Jacobites for Prestonpans complete by the end of the month (Jacobite command, MacDonalds and Atholl brigades finished, currently working on Cameron's). I plan to try out the rules a few times, before extending both armies to cover later battles. Rod |

There Is But One True Horse & Musket Rule Set! WRG 1685-1845! All Else Is Heresy! |

Well I do have a set of WRG 1685-1845 rules, which I bought when they first came out, and might try them out with my Jacobite Rebellion set-up, although my 1745 armies are organised on a 1:30 ratio, rather than the 1:50 of that edition of WRG. I had a lot more experience playing their predecessor rules, the 1971 edition WRG 1750 – 1850, in the red cover (with flinch factors, that no other rules ever used). The ratio in that was 1:15, but that made very large battalions, so some of us halved the battalion size to make a 1:30 ratio, which I have used ever since. Rod |
