I searched the net, cant find a pic of this round. Can anyone help? Were they as long as the AP rounds the 75L48 used? The gun's barrel is so dang short… |

That is the AT round, not the HE round. Mark |

link link See these links for the HE round. It is much smaller. The charge is not much bigger than a soup can. Surprisingly, it used separate loading ammo … charge and round. Mark |

Surprisingly, it used separate loading ammo … charge and round. I don't think that's correct … I've seen newsreel footage on Youtube of a guy loading and firing a Le.I.G.18 by himself, and he's definitely just slamming in a complete round. I could be confused. |

Tango, you are absolutely correct. I feel stupid. The L/24 is in the Pz III N and early Pz IVs. It is not the IG. On the separate ammo; the charge and the round are supplied individually, but the loader slides them together for loading. So again, I'm wrong … it is not separate 'loading.' Mark |

Guns capable of upper register fire (such as the leIG18)often have separately loaded propellent casings as they usually have the charge in increments to enable various fire envelopes. eg the British 25pdr. |
