I am wondering which edition they are going to use. An extract from the article:

"If you are claiming a right to privacy, for example, we roll two twenty-sided dice to determine your score, take away any debuffs – low income, being foreign – and measure it against the government's own total.

To my knowledge, Warhammer 40K has not been using D20 since the 2nd edition, which was discontinued in 1998

it allows every possible type of conflict to be resolved with only a handful of dice

These guys clearly have not seen the types of conflicts that arise during a 40K game! What cannot be solved with dice is worked out with yelling, whining and pouting.

And politics is any different?

Griefbringer, your dates are a bit off. 2nd edition was 84-87

…for example, we roll two twenty-sided dice to determine your score…

Couldn't even get that right. Bucket of d6's, not polyhedrals.

Even fake media are a waste of flesh.

Yes, politics is different. I have never seen cash change hands in 40K

The Mash seems to have a bit of an obsession with Warhammer (though they ALWAYS seem to get all their facts about the game wrong). The articles are still funny even if they are flawed…

For Warhammer Fantasy Battle, yes,

But the article is about Warhammer 40K, for which 2nd edition was released in 1993.

I just looked at my copy of Rogue Trader (1987) and although D20s might occasionally be used for damage D6s were the dice used for almost everything mechanics-wise. Same with the next version in '93.

I know d4 & d8 were used for damage; I can't remember the use of a d20 at all, but I might be mistaken.

Griefbringer16 May 2015 11:16 a.m. PST

Yes, D20 was not particularly common in either RT or 2nd edition. However, from 3rd edition onwards it was not used at all.
