Dear All,
Last night at the Uni the Gong Gamers replayed an Operation BAGRATION themed Bolt Action game, trialling the use of 1/72nd scale models but keeping the ground scale the same… Batrep here: link |

Sincere apologies for the cross post to the Napoleonics board – must be something to do with Bagration! |

Don't worry – some of us Naps fans like WW2 as well *grin" – nice paint job by the way. And 1/72 is the way to go… |

Nice looking game. A group of us play Bolt action in 15mm here in the States. I'm sure we're not unique in doing so. While I also play the game in 28mm, I think it fits with the smaller scales better. And, as you say, it's simplicity allows for larger games that can be played to a satisfactory conclusion in an afternoon. |

While I am a fan of big figs, if you are putting multiple tanks on the table, I think you have to drop in scale just to keep it from looking too silly, if nothing else. |

15mm> Wow! Do you keep the same ground scale? |

My mate Alan, who played on the German side in the first game, and umpired the second, has written up a more detailed account of the action here – and taken some very nice photos to boot (he's a semi-professional photographer you know…)

Ok a wee bit late.. here. *Navy Fower Wun Seven Last night.. replayed an Operation BAGRATION themed Bolt Action game, trialling the use of 1/72nd scale models but keeping the ground scale the same 1/72 boy that brings back a lot of Airfix memories ) If ya get back to reading this. How did that work out for you, using 1/72 models with the 1/56 (BA) ground scale rules? *Rrobbyrobot I think it fits with the smaller scales better. And.. simplicity allows for larger games that can be played.. in an afternoon. I totally agree. Personally it seems to me that BA's "Tank War" was 'written for 15mm". As such I too have been thinking of using (and slowly collecting)15MM – 1/100 scale armor, primarily PSC. However I was thinking of 'halving' the movement and shooting ranges. *Rrobbyrobot, did you make any changes to the ground scales or stay with the rules in the BA core rule book? |

Thanks PT Gamer. How did it work out – fine I guess, but we haven't played either BATW or 1/72nd since! More a function of a busy club with lots of rulesets, scales and periods of interest than a reaction against this experience though! |

Thanks for reply "N F W S", Its the good and bad of a "good" group, variety. It keeps things from being dull, but can mean long periods between playing a favorite game. Im still working to start my own 1/100 BATW group, in part finding fellow interested parties. Also (shame to admit), Ive yet to build my 2 PSC (US-Ger) platoons. I.e.the "to do" list is getting long. |

"Sincere apologies for the cross post to the Napoleonics board – must be something to do with Bagration!" I got a chuckle out of it. Reminded me of an ancient SNL skit, "What if General Custer had a Sherman tank at the Little Bighorn?" |

I've always thought that games with large scale tanks on small tables looks a little silly – just my opinion. |

Compared to all the other games with toy soldiers you mean? |
