I really like the look of trees and hedges made from steel wool. Anyone know of a vendor that sells them? I spend all my spare time painting miniatures and would rather purchase premade terrain rather than make it myself. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Be careful, steel wool can be quite flammable! link |

Personally, I think steel wool is nasty stuff and wouldn't use it. |

WOW, I did not realize that. Thank you for the tip. I do like the 4ground trees so I guess I will start buying them. For whatever reason, I do not care for most of the woodland scenic trees i see… |

I recall Gomez Addams blowing-up his model railroad. Trees and hedges made from steel wool -- bursting into flame -- could be the ultimate in wargaming table-top realism. |

There is a bloke who uses horse hair to the same effect. I think he trades under the name of The Last Valley. He frequents the UK wargame shows and his stuff looks designed to work with 20 / 28mm. |

But you really want an American supplier don't you? |

I would prefer one, but I do order direct from UK/EU miniature companies so it's no issue. |

You got me interested. 1) I have some of a few gauges. 2) my artillery doesn't really fire anything so the chances of fire is quite small to none. Guess I'll have to play with some. |

Woodland scenics make a thready green material with same type of texture for the same exact purpose. |

Hiho, if you are interested, I have a number of olive trees and pine trees I need to part with, but I am based in NZ (nevertheless they are super light, so shipping should be cheap). Let me know if you are interested and we can sort something out (miniatures are 15mm and 28mm respectively:
