Given Iron Wind Metals is bringing back the old Elves and Orc/Goblins, with plans for more, on Kickstarter what old figures would you want to have available (new molds, re-sculpts were necessary,) to finish/start an army you missed out on?

Edit: Link removed, check Kickstarter under "Chaos Wars."

clibinarium14 May 2015 3:50 a.m. PST

That link seems to go to your profile or something? I only get a login prompt that doesn't work.

Mute Bystander14 May 2015 3:50 a.m. PST

Science Fiction – The Galactic Grenadiers – link – beyond any doubt!

Fantasy – Der Kriegspieler dwarves/goblins/orcs/elves – link – and the "Wizards, Warriors, and Warlocks" Ral Partha line – link would be excellent.

Historical – satisfied with current offerings right now, so nothing.

Mute Bystander14 May 2015 3:53 a.m. PST

Edit: Need to make sure I copy the right links, sorry.

Naismith 15mm Macedonians would be good.

So many of the old figures are crude by today's standards and would never sell. I would like to see the old RP hobgoblins. Those still stand up today. Sorry no picture.

Old School "True 25mm" colonial lines.
Like the following:
Frontier
Der Kriegspieler
Armoury
Pass of the North
Iron Brigade
Confederals and their 15mm equivalents
Continentals

I understand a lot of these lines are being held in limbo by groups who don't want to put them in production, but just crank some out "for the club ".
Some are held by heirs who can't afford to produce but won't sell because some know it all told them what he thought they were worth.
So the molds gather dust.

Mute Bystander14 May 2015 4:33 a.m. PST

Downside of Free Enterprise, Winston.

Sad.

The Der Kriegspieler molds (many) are owned by classicminiatures.net but his production is lower priority (as should be) to work and family. That really hurts for my game greed but those are the right priorities.

Minifigs have brought some back – most of the skelleybones forest orcs and swamplords

Fantasy – Nick Lund's Chronicle range (including the stuff he did for GW). Still some of the best orcs, hobgoblins, ogres, wolf riders, wolf chariots, oriental hobgoblins, etc. made.

I always liked the old Realm goblin line too.

surdu200514 May 2015 6:04 a.m. PST

Pass of the North figures are in production. I just ordered some a month ago and received them very quickly. You can get them here: mondayknight.com.

I bought a lot of those figures when he was the only one making Villistas, Moros, and Americans for that period. Old Glory makes nice figures for that period now, but they weren't averrable when I was building up my forces. I will likely order a bunch more Moros soon. You can never have too many of them. :)

Another vote for Mithril. A bit selfish as I need only 4 to complete my collection…

GW's old metal Squats. I had them and sold them….

Marcus Brutus14 May 2015 8:34 a.m. PST

Hey Mike Adams, you were surprisingly late in getting in your Companion Miniatures plug!! But I agree that they would be at the top of my list too!

Another vote for citadel's eternal champion figs! I have a plan to do this in 1/72 if my wish does not come through….

sorry. I meant bugbears.

Chazzmak14 May 2015 9:00 a.m. PST

US Minifigs (Pine Plains NY) 25mm Napoleonics, especially the French. First figures I ever bought. Of course I'd want them at 1975 prices

GarrisonMiniatures14 May 2015 9:07 a.m. PST

2 contenders from me:

Minifigs 'S' Range Ancients (have tried, sadly didn't happen) – but that's greed 'cos I've already got loads (need Philistines – haven't got loads of them.)

Warrior 25mm Armies of Greek and Persian Wars range (tried, masters melted down, moulds gone or trashed, end of conversation.)

Murvihill14 May 2015 9:33 a.m. PST

Sad."

Well, under a directed economy we'd all have Chaco War Peruvians and Jenkins' Ear Spanish but no one would produce Zulus or WW2 Germans. You pays your money and takes your chances…

There was a small group of minis back in the late 80's modeled after Cerebus the Aardvark.

Monolith miniatures Hellboy range

Fabe Mrk 214 May 2015 10:11 a.m. PST

Didn't Iron Winds make a line of "Car Wars" minis? I wouldn't mind seeing those back in production. Of course with 6th edition in the early stages of pre development a miniatures line for the old line might not be worth it.

TKindred Supporting Member of TMP14 May 2015 10:17 a.m. PST

Citadel's 25mm Dark Ages lines. Those minis still compare quite favorably with today's castings/sculpts.

Not so much "bring back", but I would REALLY like to find someone here in the states who has Essex' 25/28mm historical lines, especially their ancient line(s) available.

I would love to add an ancient Indian army for to stand up against my Macedonians, but it's just so pricey right now buying from them in England and shipping over here.

But those Citadel Historical minis were top notch. I still have some here but would like a bunch more.

Pattus Magnus14 May 2015 10:39 a.m. PST

TKindred,

I'm not super-familiar with the early Citadel historical ranges, but if you're referring to these, then you're in luck:

link

Foundry apparently got the rights to the historicals when they parted ways with Citadel, and have recently been re-releasing the older lines. If those aren't the dark ages figs you're looking for, maybe try getting in touch with Foundry – they might just be able/willing to dig the moulds out of the archives.

Winston Smith14 May 2015 12:12 p.m. PST

Grenadier had a large historical range, including AWI!
That was way back in the. 70s or 80s.
They had some Punic Wars and Dark Ages with HORRIBLE cavalry but decent infantry.
Nice medievals but again with horrible cavalry.

Grenadier also had a nice 15mm ACW and Egyptian Assyrian range.

Insomniac14 May 2015 12:55 p.m. PST

GW Squats… plastic and metal

GarrisonMiniatures14 May 2015 1:07 p.m. PST

Many of the old Grenadier ranges are in production in various places – for instance, Mirliton do a lot of the Fantasy figures:

link

So it's quite possible that some of the ones you're interested in are still in production somewhere – though apart from parts of the Fantasy ranges I don't know where.

Mikes Models. I have Colonial armies of Zulus, Sudanese, Mahdists, British (South Africa and Sudan) and Indian. I also have Feudal-era armies of Novgorodian Rus, Teutonic Order, Mongol and Polish with assorted others tossed into the mix. I still pick up Mikes figures whenever I come across them on eBay or a convention flea market. I'd loved to have had SYW armies made up of MM.

Henry Martini14 May 2015 5:32 p.m. PST

Ah, those Mike's Models tubby little dwarves; but despite their disproportion, the Renaissance figures were a cut above the rest of the range in terms of detail and character, and have an irresistible charm.

One more vote for Mikes Models. I am in the process of building Indian armies for FoGR starting by remounting my old WRG renaissance armies. I could use a couple hundred more Mikes' Models infantry of various sorts.

Dagwood15 May 2015 12:02 p.m. PST

Another vote for Citadel Historical range. They are not the Perry ones pictured, PM, but were from the late 70's, were 25mm tall and came with a variety of heads and other bits in otherwise similar poses. I have about 50 Vikings but would love an entire army.

BigDan Supporting Member of TMP15 May 2015 8:15 p.m. PST

The old Citadel Historicals are great, I still have my Carolingian Army.

I'd like to see the Citadel AD&D line or really any/all of the 80's era Citadel.

Early morning writer15 May 2015 9:52 p.m. PST

Quick scan and I didn't see one of the usual suspects:

Frontier – I miss that range. (in 15 mm)

Twilight Samurai15 May 2015 9:54 p.m. PST

I've seen two or three examples of people who have done Blood Bath at Orc's Drift in recent times, sigh, if only time and figure availability allowed.
