I'm a little surprised that Magister Militum's extension into the pike-and-shot and horse-and-musket eras hasn't drawn more attention. It's certainly got me interested.

I agree, they seem to keep their news pretty much to themselves don't they. I posted about the Ancients a while back as they interest me. Thanks for the info about the strip size, I was wondering about that.

I plan to bring them into the US this summer at ScaleCreep.com…

I'm happy to hear about these. If I can ever figure out how to do landing parties in naval games, this line will help me play 1/600 raids in scale with the shore scenery.

I've been watching this range expand and I am very tempted. I imagine I will pull the trigger at some point.

Looks like I'll be placing an order this summer

Hmmmm – now that's tempting!

I just went to Versaille today, decided to do the WSS and then I see this! Serendipity! Whats up with the stealth release of this lline??? I just hope they plan to finish it. Still a few codes missing, but no reason this couldnt be awesome.

Missed the news completely, I'm interested too!

Richard Clewer (Magister Militum) is keen to gauge demand. A good response is obviously going to encourage him to extend the range.

I'm personally waiting on grenadiers. Once they've been added that will probably be my jumping-in point for 17thC armies.

Think Mr. Clewer might blackwash a few and share the pics with us? Something that small does not photograph to well, especially in the "raw" casting state.

I'm going to need to sort out my project(s) before I get ordering, not sure how long that'll take. The ECW/TYW stuff looks like you could get a faster start with, at least for mid-sized battles.

A review of the 18th century line was posted on a blog recently. Here's the link that will take you to it: link

Plenty of photos, including comparison pics with Oddzial Osmy's stuff.

Too bad about the guns, I'm wondering if the base can be cut up and the gunners used with O8 guns.

Great write-up/ review by LDB! Im going to be doing a bunch of these guys when I get back, in the grande manner, of course. The 8 figs per 20mm frontage somewhat keeps you further from 1:1 than Marcin's 10-fig frontage Napoleonics, but whatever. Its about the same as his ACW figs. Very nice use of stand-ins by LDB in there as well. For the artillery, I myself may be tempted to take Marcins quite excellent bicorne gunners and add a third cormer with a tiny piece of green stuff or other sort of putty, then just use 08 guns, rather than get elbow-deep converting an arty piece on a screwed up 1 piece base. Erg. That said, those infantry do look absolutely great, and Im quite interested in the effect of a full-ish scale 480 figure unit complete with pikes set up in four ranks. It would work out to each battalion being three times the frontage of LDBs and it happens to be the exact size of a single 60 strip bag. Bingo. I'm also quite please to see a "no command strip" option on the webage, as that will definitely be the one I go for. The pike will make great looking standard bearers, and from what I can tell from my recent research units at the time had quite a few flags that can be added in from the companies, which should look cool. I need to research that a bit more though. Still, its nice to see a new 3mm line that looks to be quite legit, and glad to see that they can work with the O8 lines well enough to sub-out for them. A great review!

Also, I have to give MM this as well- we can do the GNW pretty much with what they've put out there right now. Im pretty sure grenadiers could be faked with some O8 shako infantry until such time as its available and everything else is there already. Ga Pa!

Well.

Now I have no excuse to stay out of the WSS thru 7YW gaming anymore.
