Hello,
If having the option to war-game the American Revolution or the War of 1812, which one would you reseach and game? I read an article pertaining to the Battle of North Point, 1814, on the War of 1812 website and found it very interesting.

I've always been partial to the Revolution, but that's probably because I was a kid during the Bicentennial and it made an impression on me.

I prefer the Era of Lace; gentlemen in fancy breeches and powdered wigs, ladies in heavy gowns and elaborate hairstyles, 'beauty patches' covering pock marks, commoners in their place, Indians in great contrast to all that.

Still, 1812 has its charms. I do both.

I'd go for AWI as well, but 1812 would also provide the basis of a British Army to fight elsewhere wink

Déjà vu…

War of 1812 on the Niagara offers numerous battles between relatively small forces, little cavalry – so armies aren't too expensive, land and naval operations on the Great Lakes.
And your British redcoats can fight in the Peninsula or at Waterloo too.

For land, I like both, especially for skirmish games. The same goes for naval games.

However, if forced to choose, I'd go with AWI on land and 1812 by sea.

War of 1812. A friend & I have been running a number of the battles at conventions over the last 2 years, trying to pick ones that happened as close to the actual convention date as possible.

Recently, one fell on an actual convention day, & my friend was able to schedule the start time of the game to be within an hour of when the battle actually started.

& I know he's done the Battle of North Point, & will be doing the Battle of New Orleans (a little late) next weekend at a convention in the San Francisco area.
