"Polaris Defense, a division of Polaris Industries Inc., submitted a response for the U.S. Army's request for information regarding the ULCV (Ultra Light Combat Vehicle) program. The Ultra Light Combat Vehicle (ULCV) is a proposed air-droppable light off-road truck to improve the mobility of light infantry brigades. Polaris Defense intends to respond at the RFI with its Dagor Ultra-light Combat Vehicle. "Our tested and proven DAGOR vehicle is in the hands of U.S. and allied Special Forces and the feedback has been extremely positive," said Rich Haddad, general manager of Polaris Defense. "It was designed for requirements very similar to what we are seeing materialize for the ULCV, and as a result DAGOR already represents the optimum balance of payload, off-road mobility and tactical air transportability. If we were designing a vehicle specifically for ULCV, the result would be DAGOR with a short list of accessories, which we detailed in our RFI response to the U.S. Army." I want to "borrow" one for off-roading. I'll give it back… eventually. (Why should SpecOps have all the fun?) |

Another HUMVEE clone. This one stripped of all body panels. And probably a lot more expensive. |

Not a humvee clone, this is shorter, narrower, but longer. (Humvees won't fit in a CH47 cargo hold, this will) Call it an M151 or CJ Jeep stretched to haul a full 9-man squad and you're closer to the truth. It doesn't "need" to be armored because it's only for the initial assault forces, before the opposition has a chance to mine and IED the hell out of the area. Follow-on forces will need MRAPs. |
