link War in 15mm has posted a great Darkest Africa adventure on the LAF. I have seen most of it in person and it is wonderful. Many of the pieces are scratchbuilt or conversions. Most of the animals are simple kids toys he got at the swap meet. It's amazing what he can do with a couple cuts from the X-Acto knife and a re-paint on toy figures. I have seen his swap meet finds before he works on them. Most are just junk toys that look like they have been played with hard. Then he works his magic on them and they are transformed into something awesome. Most of those animals are just like the cheapo animals you would get at the dollar store or toy store in a bag. His paint jobs and skillful use of Miliput and the X-Acto knife really make the difference. I had to post this because he is too modest to take proper credit for his work. He has over 9,000 hits on LAF for this project. That's incredible. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

Mike, thank you for this very kind and generous posting. I appreciate all the wonderful words praise very much. I really mean that. Thank you all. It must be obvious from his comments that Mike and I live down the road from each other and often get together to enjoy what the other is doing. We share a belief that a broken toy is only an opportunity in disguise, and we get a lot of pleasure out of seeing new uses made of things that were one-time cast off junk. Thanks again to all of you for not only the very generous words but also for taking the time to write them. Richard |

So, Mike, can you confirm or deny that Richard is really just a pseudonym for a talented group of triplets!? : ) |
