Commander of first Polish foray into Lithuania, and responsible for greatly increasing partisan activity there. Related to Konstantine, and so distrusted by radical Poles, he obtained some flak after leading his troops into Prussia and internment. Original edition published in Berlin in 1832.

and ed. Dr. R. O. Spazier.Leipzig: Dyk'schen, 1832.

Dembinski conducted a skillful campaign to stir up partisan activity in Lithuania. He was the only Polish commander to escape this campaign with troops and reputation intact. Briefly commanded the revolutionary forces in summer 1831; went on to direct anti-Russian forces elsewhere, notably in Hungary (1848). The above two editions are similar, the French a little longer, while the German has a better map.

"Despatch of Prince Lubecki to the Emperor of Russia," The Portfolio. Vol. IV, No. XXVII (3 August 1836).

Mainly a defense of his actions in regards to the Warsaw treason trial of 1828, and request for Nicholas to respect the 1815 constitution.

Volume four contains reprints of orders, dispatches, letters, maps and orders-of-battle. Mainly in Polish, and a few in French.

Bilingual French/English copy of treaties from Congress of Vienna, also contains
constitution for the Republic of Cracow.

Mainly on pre-1815 events. Does contain copies of political documents, treaties, and Russian lists of wanted rebels from events of 1830-1831.

Interesting look at events right before the November Revolution by a German cadet in Konstantine's Guard Lancer Regiment.

Hordynski, Jozef. History of the Late Polish Revolution and Events of the Campaign. Boston: n.p., 1833.

Author lists himself as a major of the Tenth Lithuanian Uhlans. His work is extremely biased, both against all things Russian, and for General Skrzynecki. Neither his accounts, nor his maps jive with other records.

Kosciakiewicz, A.. Souvenirs de l'emigration Polonaise [Memoirs of the Polish Emigration]. Paris: n.p., 1858.

Author served in Sixteenth Infantry Regiment and won Cross of Military Virtue during the fighting. His book deals mainly with what happened to those who left Poland after the war.

Kryczynski, J. N. The Recovery of Poland. Philadelphia: n.p., 1847.

Joined Polish army in 1820's and ran afoul of Konstantine. Not too much on 1830-1831.

Lelevel [Lelewel], Joachim. Histoire de Pologne [History of Poland]. 2 Vol.. Paris: Libraire Polonaise, 1844.

Contains useful overview of 1815-1831, along with many bibliographical entries not included here.

[Malachowski, Casimir]. Quelques Mots Concernant les Ordres Donnes par le General en Chef de l'Armee Polonaise au Corps du General Ramorino Apres l'Evacuation de Varsoive

Short pamphlet that reprints orders and reports relating to Ramorino's actions after 7 September 1831.

Mieroslawski, Louis [Ludwig]. Histoire de la revolution de Pologne. [History of the Polish Revolution]. 2 Vols. Paris: M.A. Jelowicki et Cie., 1836.

Carbonari and infantry nco in 1831, Mieroslawski (1814-1878) went on to command Polish revolutionaries in 1848 and 1863. His interest in things military makes these valuable for students of the war.

Author was Polish infantry captain at Grocho'w. Useful.

Mainly on the tail end of 1831, and his captivity in Russia. One disjointed chapter deals with the uprising in Volhynia.

Useful look at partisan actions. In addition, reprints numerous letters, dispatches and edicts.

Reproduces documents, diplomatic notes and letters from Polish rebels to Prussian
government.

Complaints by Poles when Nikolas issued all qualified troops a campaign medal for the battles of 1831 that was an exact copy of Poland's highly coveted Virtuti Militari award.

Mainly in Polish, but vol. I, II and IV have valuable entries in French from Chl/opicki,

Drucki-Lubecki and Ramorino.

Valuable collection of letters, mainly in French. Contain a great deal of trivial matter, as one might expect from Romanovs, but also some very useful information.

Held in Stanford University's Library under above title. This is a bound collection of small booklets in Polish and French. Contains reprints of correspondence from last actions of revolutionary forces before internment in Prussia, poetry, and forty pages on manuscript at end on actions in the war and in emigration.

Both look at events of 1794, 1830/1 and 1863. Former stresses military aspects, while latter is a collection of papers on a wider range of topics. The Party Line is evident, but not over-powering.

Excellent biography. Also contains English translation of Polish 1815 Constitution and Organic Statute of 1832.

Puzyrewsky, Alexander. Der Polnisch-russische Krieg 1831 [The Polish-Russian War of 1831]. Trans. Valerian Mikulicz. 2 Vols. Wien: Kreisel & Gro"ger, 1892.

Translation of Pol'sko-russkaia voina 1831 goda (1886). Puzyrewsky was a Major-General in Russian army and Chief-of-Staff for its Warsaw District. A very valuable work, with a multi-lingual bibliography and maps for just about every event of this war. His Polish edition, Wojna Polska-Ruska 1831r (1899) was reprinted in 1988 with better, albeit fewer, colored maps. An important work.

Reddaway, W. F. (et. al.). The Cambridge History of Poland: From Augustus II to Pilsudski (1697-1935). Cambridge: University Press, 1941.

Col. Bronislaw Pawlowski provides a chapter on military actions of 1830-1831, while Kukiel writes on the military history of 1794 to 1815.

Interesting look at the tail end of the uprising. Describes efforts to get interned soldiers out of Prussia and Austria, and into France.

Spazier, Richard Otto. Geschichte des Aufstandes des Polnischen Volkes in dem Jahren 1830 und 1831 [History of the Polish Insurrection in the Years 1830 and 1831]. 3 Vol. Stuttgart: Brodhag'schen, 1834.

Held Ph.D. in Polish Literature and was active supporter of the revolution. A detailed, biased and sometimes faulty history, but still worth a look. Detailed orders of battle in
Vol 2 and 3, plus a beautiful collection of maps at end.

Wow, Robert, that's a formidable bibliography – fantastic.

I knew nothing about this war (and still know very little). But no doubt thanks to your help, Shipka has done some excellent research and he and I have created a scenario for one of the major battles of the November Uprising, Ostrolenka. It's not playtested yet, but he suggested we should share it with people anyway. It's in the files of the BBB Yahoo group, and also on Flickr:
