About four-five years ago, someone was selling about a dozen painted figures of a Royal Navy Landing Party on the TMP Market Place. I was tempted to buy it, but my marriage at the time was in pre-divorce mode. Now I'd like to obtain a similar set, even unpainted. However, I can't seem to find anyone that makes such figures and I don't know if the set I saw was scratch-built. Any ideas where I could find such figures? Thanks! Ted |

For 15mm I used early war USMC and cut the obviously US canteens off their belts. |

I think you are thinking of Regiment Games. Steve was selling a 28mm mid-late 30's British landing party a couple years ago.
There were 16 different figures, I think. I can contact him for you and see if he has any left, if these are what you are looking for. VSB |

Peter Pig has naval figures (15mm) in the WW1 range. You can also use Russian naval troops with headships from the PP head range. martin |

Eureka Miniatures have some, small 28mm, circa 1900 with bandolier equipment and Sennet hats, one officer. Copplestone Darkest Africa 28mm, Sennet or Porkpie hats, range of officers and I thought he had a Gardiner or Nordenfelt MG and crew, but its not currently listed. The sailors in Porkpie hats are in the website photos but are also missing from the catalog for some reason, at one time you couldn't get the Sennet hat figures, now the table s have been turned. For fun Hinterland make female Naval Landing Party figures in 28mm as well as an amazing PomPom cannon on wheeled mount. For later periods, say WW1 thru WW2 you can also add in Bob Murch's Pulp figures as well as Copplestone's other ranges, a bit of judicious filing can make the figures British or US in many cases. |

But whatever figures you use, please don't paint the wooden top sections of the SMLE stock as gunmetal. |

Thanks for the help everyone! I forgot to mention the scale in my initial message: They were either 25 or 28mm. Nice pictures of your figures Virtualscratchbuilder! Ted |

"NOW you tell me? :)" Sorry, I don't usually point out things in other peoples painting (they are very nice figures!), but sometimes… |

Does anyone sell the Regiment Games British Royal Naval landing party figures anymore? In particular I am looking for a 28mm figure to use as an RN surgeon (1938-1942)North Atlantic. The officer figure in the back of this group of RN landing party figures might work if I could find him. link I know Pulp Figures have come out with a British deck officer but he is in the tropical uniform with shoulder boards. I just do not remember what company made that figure. Not regimental games. I actually have two of them. The one in the picture you show has been converted to hold a rifle. The original has both hands behind his back. Where is Chick Lewis he will know who made it. He knows every interwar figure ever made. I checked copplestone, artisan, And foundry. The latter has a very similar figure middle of the bottom row here link Sorry I can't remember the maker of that particular figure that you cite. Since I'm only using that figure now as an officer for a naval gun crew I could spare if you want to buy it. $10 USD including postage. It's an excellent figure and beautifully painted, varnished but not dipped. By the way that Murch figure is a very nice officer, those shoulder boards are easily filed or sawed off. |

Thanks I will take you up on that kind offer. Brian |

The Bob Murch figure would not only need the shoulder boards removed but buttons added as the regular (blue) uniform is a double breasted jacket with 8 buttons. But I agree it is a nice looking figure, I will certainly get one but likely use it for tropical scenarios. |

From the pictures I have seen the RN uniforms (as on most of the Regiment games figures) are black not blue, especially for the officers. But it is a bit like painting rivers, while brown may be the more "correct" colour blue is what people associate with rivers and also sailor uniforms. I compromised and used a very dark blue for the ratings, and black for the officers with a drybrush of midnight blue for highlights. |
