He really comes down hard on "less" and "fewer".

I would love to see him come down just as hard on apostrophe abuse. As soon as he does that, I will call my banners and rally to his just cause.

In the book… they explained how Stannis made contact with the witch?

He seem to be not a bad guy…

He has a terrible wife… but he loves his daughter…

Another reason to like him as a character.

In the books, Melisandre is just kind of with him all along. He does not appear until Book 2. In Book 1 he is merely described.
He fled to Dragonstone right after Jon Arryn was murdeted. It seems that both Stannis and Jon had dug up the truth that Jon died for, about the true parentage of Cersei's children.
It kind of annoys me that he let Ned discover it himself and die for it.
Other than that and killing his brother with the shadow monster and his rather cynical manipulation of the Red God and burning banner men for heresy, he's not such a bad dude.

I would still prefer him to Daenerys. Not by much though.
She is the type who starts conversations with "And I'm like, what's up with that?"

I think even Stannis would break out into a sweat if he found himself in this line.
