Did the German Schwerer Wehrmachtschlepper ever tow the German 15cm sFH18 howitzer or the 10cm sK19 gun? I have a bunch of the Roco halftracks and guns and I am hope to tow the one with the other. Links to photos would be a bonus. Thanks. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

Greetings There are posts that list the SWS as a tow for the sFH18. link The SWS had a 5t capacity as rated and so could also pull 8.8cm Flak or PAK – there are pictures of both the latter on the web. Regards Edward |

As you mention Roco I presume you mean the SWS with the armoured cab? If that is the case I would say that while they could tow weapons they didn't do it all that often and when they did it would mostly be anti tank guns. Of course by the time that version came into service the Wehrmacht was in "use what you have for what you need mode." Fatman |

The Schwerer Wehrmachtschlepper (Heavy Military Tractor), or sWS for short, was a German World War II half-track flat-bed cargo vehicle used in various roles between 1943 and 1945. The unarmored models were used as supply vehicles and as tractors to haul things. The semi-armored version could mount a medium anti-aircraft gun, while the fully armored model carried a 10 barrel rocket launcher (Nebelwerfer). Less than a thousand were built before the end of the war, but production continued after the war of an improved model in the Tatra plant in Czechoslovakia. |

Not much point in copying Wiki entries Ron, easier to just link to Wiki. |

I was looking for information on the armored one, like Roco makes. They made just over 800 of them and I anticipate that at least a few may have towed artillery since they were a very late war vehicle. Thanks for all the help. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |
