It's a terrain expansion for Heroscape, but will non-Heroscape gamers be attracted by the trees?

Has anyone else seen this comedy? I seem to be the only person in the world who watches it!

For those who don't know it, Bluestone 42 is the call sign of an IED disposal team in Afghanistan. Unlikely subject for a sitcom, I know! Banter and black humour feature heavily in a sharp script. It seems pretty realistic to me, in terms of how groups of blokes behave with each other.

Unusually for a British TV show about soldiers, it portrays soldiers actually enjoying being soldiers.

I wonder if anyone who has served in Afghanistan, or anywhere for that matter, has seen the show and what they thought of it?

Too many cast changes for me, and I lost interest, but I loved the first series, and know a few veterans who thorougly enjoy it. The writers put a lot of effort into getting feedback from real squaddies, and it shows – it would've been very easy to fatally misjudge the humour and get axed in a flurry of tabloid headlines, especially in the early days, but they pulled it off well….

I think its a great show.

Extremely realistic according to the ATOs i know :)

Watched all of it from day one until its recent end, very funny and very British, humour.

Don't understand Dom's point on cast changes there were only three I recall from the core group over three series and the two replacements (third one was not replaced) as new characters, added their own dimension to the show.

Overall a nice example of the BBC actually managing to get out of a successful comedy series, before it passed its sell by date, if you ask me.

Seen a couple…it's not exactly M*A*S*H* for the quality of writing.

IMHO.

No, much better than MASH as it is far more true to life

Thought it was a really good series and enjoyed watching it.

I watched it because it had Kelly Adams in it it and after Hustle…

But I thought it was well written.

I enjoyed series 1 and 2, series 3 not so much. A bit of an anti-climax after the 'climax' at the end of series 2

To be fair, I think they have to thank the Government for that plot ending.

Great series, have the first on DVD & looking to buy the other 2

Craig Ambler13 May 2015 3:31 a.m. PST

I liked it, but think that it has had it's time. The new Officer wasn't very interesting or funny.

Good though while it lasted. I presume it is finished!

What's the first rule? make series 4

Cerdic14 May 2015 4:03 a.m. PST

I thought the first rule was "get a Landrover'….

Wonderful series but certainly I think they'd come to a natural close – at least with an Afghan setting.

After all, tours are only so long.

Might be worth revisiting in a different theatre – hopefuly we won't have another war soon but I assume bomb disposal has all kinds of uses on UN ops etc.
