Construction of the first vessel of the class started at the end of 2014 with a delivery expected for 2017 or 2018. Based on a corvette design, the Gowind LCS are considered frigates because of their increase size and displacement and will bring a significant capability step to the Royal Malaysian Navy…"

good looking boat-where are the teeth?

- 57mm gun in a stealth turret forward (the barrel is inside when not firing)
- 8x SAMs in a VLS unit just aft of the 57mm gun
- 2x 4-packs of anti-ship missiles amidships
- 2x torpedo launchers just aft of the small-boat doors amidships (also aft of the ASMs)
- 2x 30mm remote weapons on top of the hangar, aft

Bofors claims that the 57mm can get more rounds on target by weight than any gun smaller than a 100mm.

So it's better armed than a USN LCS, almost as well-armed as a fully-kitted FFG7. The OHP-class has a larger missile capacity (40 birds, split between Harpoons and SM1s) with the Mk13 single-arm launcher, but the Gowind-class has a much better one-time throw weight due to the external 2x4 missile tubes. It's also comparable to the Israeli Saar-5 class corvettes, assuming that Bofors' claim about the 57mm is true.
