Greetings. Does anyone know if either version of Field of Battle includes lists for the French in Mexico? The Piquet website doesn't seem to be very clear on the matter. I've been thinking about rebasing my 15mm armies on 30x30 bases for the infantry, and I suppose this would work for FOB. Does anyone have a spare copy of 1st edition they would like to offload? Thanks much. Mike D |

FoB2 has guidelines for Maximilian adventure. Eric Burgess, who has written several Piquet supplements, has a special interest in this period – see his Din of battle blog. link FoB is fairly basing independent. Ideally, infantry and cavalry bases should have the same frontages. Peter |

Thanks. Does 1st edition also cover Max in Mex? I played in one of Eric's Mexico games a few years ago at Historicon. Great game and a gentleman gamer. Mike D |

I would assume to but I'll have to check my copy of the first edition when I am home. If not, I can copy the brief listing in FoB2 for you. |

Both editions have Macmillan Adventure 1862-1867, among other eras. Greg Cornell kindly sent me a copy of the first edition rules a few years back. I could send them to you, if you wish. E-mail me at gamedad25 AT yahoo DOT com. |

Auto correct zapped Maximillian in last post. Enjoy the rules, and join the Yahoo group when you get a chance. It's fairly active and Brent Oman posts there quite often. |

I've used FoB2 for the French Intervention in Mexico. It works well. I actually played the first Battle of Puebla on its 150th anniversary. The French won! I recommend Tim Tilson's Maximilian Adventure scenario book. It's written for The Sword and the Flame but it can easily be applied to other rule sets. |

I have been playing FOB since it first was released. I have used it for quite a wide variety of different conflicts. I have yet to find a particular War where it just did not feel right for what we were playing. That's part of the brilliance of Field of Battle. Brent took a set of rules which while having some really innovative concepts had some downside too. He refined them into Field of Battle which I believe are one of the top 2-3 definitive rule sets of our time. For the guys I game with they have been our 'holy grail' rule set for 1700-WWI. It really doesn't get any better than that! Have fun. I am quite sure you'll have a good time and want to do it all over again. Thanks, John |
