Does anyone actually use the bases that come with the plastic 28's? in all the pictures that I am seeing, figures are individually mounted or the large base seems to be the vogue. I think I would rather have another figure sprue than the bases, even something with scenics on like dead figures and barrels / stakes etc |

that would add close to a dollar more to the price per box. |

Yeah, I think those bases are odd in size – like the renedra ones that came in early Warlord plastics – they stuck to the 20mmx20mm thing sure, but does anyone actually base figures on 70mmx20mm or whatever? Good for basing fences I suppose. |

I'm collecting quite a pile of them myself. |

I think they are included mostly to help promote Renedra products, although I'm sure I'll find a use for them someday. |

No – I've got a big pile of them as well! |

I was thinking of starting a post asking: which rules system are the bases meant for? 45mm x 40mm? 45mm x 60mm? Which rules use bases of those sizes? I've got 6 sprues of those bases and I am using the sides of the sprues to make movement trays, that's about all I do with them… |

Perrys seem to have included that infantry base sprue already in their British Napoleonic Line Infantry set (released in early 2009) and the cavalry base sprue in French Napoleonic Heavy Cavalry set (released in late 2009). So maybe they match with basing conventions used in some set of Napoleonic rules? |

After some digging in the TMP archives, it seems that the infantry bases might match the basing convention for General de Brigade set of Napoleonic rules. |

General de Brigade / In The Grand Manner: Cavalry: 3 figures on 60mm wide by 45mm deep. Infantry: 6 figures on 45mm wide by 40mm deep. |

The odd sized bases (45x40 and 45x60) can easily be cut down to more conventional sizes (40x40 or 40x60) if you are not using the Perry basing convention of 15x20mm for infantry. |

Thanks for the confirmation, wargame insomniac! |
