Is it worth getting? Does it help your painting technique?

It all depends on your skill level. If you are a beginner, then yes it will help. If you already can layer blend or use other higher level techniques, then it might not really add anything to your skill set.
If you want to learn to airbrush, there are probably other books out there that are better.
If you want to see Vallejo paint color schemes, then this book is very helpful, because he lists every paint he uses in almost every picture.

Thanks Mark !

I have seen the book and would make the same recommendation as above. Look it over as it is fairly pricy as is most Infinity stuff (I have quite a bit) and not an impulse buy.

Both Mark and myself had similar thoughts in our comments about the book, I'd be a bit harsher, in that I'm a complete airbrush newbie, but I got nothing from it other than paint mix ratios for Vallejo paint, you do get an exclusive mini worth maybe £6.00 GBP-7? not bought any Infinity figs for awhile so not sure how accurate that valuation is. Very disapointed and I got it for £24.00 GBP, eye candy only.

I would actually recommend going with some of the better reviewed painting videos, either for download or on YouTube.

There is a lot to painting that is in how you apply the paint, moving the brush and so on. You don't see that process with static images in a book.

It is good for a relatively new painter, or one that hasn't figured out multiple layers and blends. I will freely admit to being in that group.

The mini itself is probably $12 USD or so retail.

I do not regret the purchase.

I often listen to Fool's Daily podcast which is really good. Occasionally there are a couple of guys – Rich and Webby – on there who are 'painters' and offer a lot of good content. One particular episode recently they covered a few painting books and DVD instructions which was very interesting, including a bit of a bash of Giraldez's book (from a practical-use point of view).

I think it's covered in one or both of these two episodes:
13th April 2015 – Episode 223 'Painting by Numbers Pt 2'
10th April 2015 – Episode 222 'Painting by Numbers Pt 1'

I will admit that Angel's book would be a lot easier to use if I had an airbrush (which is on my to-acquire list)…

Not to mention 5 layers of each coat of red paint on the Gecko battlesuits?!?

I've bought quite a few dvds and books and the Giraldez book as previously stated is the poorest. Just not enough information on painting there's more about how he wanted to convert a model (not how) but what sort of look, or how a bust came to be sculpted. As stated I recommend Kevin Dallimore's first book (but only if you like his style!) personally I think he's a painting god. As for dvds the first Hot Lead dvd and the Jen Haley & Anne Forester (I think it's a Dark Sword release but could be CMON) and the Jessica Rich one some good stuff in all of them and amazing results.
