My buddy and I are about to embark on our ECW gaming . . . so of course we will begin with Edgehill.

I have posted my Royalist troops on my ECW blog:

I'm not too crazy for 28s, but your figs look really nice! Your Edgehill should be a fun and handsome fight!

Bob,

Thank you, sir, for your kind comments.

In many ways I too would prefer 15mm gaming . . . BUT (sadly) many years ago I was at a convention and people kept telling me about some gorgeously painted 15s. I went by to look at them.

My comment after careful examination was "I think that they are Napoleonics" . . . that is when I realized that my eyesight was going.

I admire the smaller scales but I have to wear magnifying glasses even to paint 28s . . . let alone see them on the table top.

The "greying of the hobby" doesn't only refer to hair color but to eyesight as well . . . *sigh*.

Know the feeling. I've just got some new specs and I've noticed the detail on figures again when I come to paint them!
Good looking figures, though I'm not a fan of massively oversized flags, I'm afraid.

I like the choice of 3 musketeers and 5 pikemen per base. It doesn't look as crowded as 4 and 6.

Congrats on how far long the project seems to be! : )

GamesPoet,

Thank you, sir. I primarily chose to do that because I feel that the pike should have more men per frontage than matchlock men (who can't be too close for safety reasons) . . . and I like the way it looks too.

Nice work mate!

Jeff,
I wear trifocals to navigate the real world. Sometimes I use double magnification (clip on magnifier and lighted magnifier on an arm) to paint some details. My normal scale is 1/72nd 20mm…so naturally I'm starting a 6mm project.

I hope you enjoy your foray into the ECW, great period with many varied and interesting encounters.
