How many players do you consider to be the ideal number per side when you are engaged in your favorite tabletop wargames? (a) 1 … I prefer gaming alone. (b) 2 … one-on-one. (c) 4 … two per side. (d) 6 … three per side. (e) 8 … four per side. (f) 10 …five per side. (g) ________________ |

b I mostly play boardgames though. Miniatures games are fine with up to 6 players and an umpire. |

4 to 6 total (divided evenly between the two sides). |

A – keeps my from having arguments with rules lawyers. And G – have had lots of fun with 15-20 people at a table |

Less about the number of players than the number of "commands" for the scenario. Some scenarios need 10 players, most don't |

I've had forty players on four tables, each with its own GM and me running about between them as lunatic director. It was a bit much. |

4-6 typically. 4 is often better as 6 can end up being more of a BSing session than a game. |

4, it is good to have a chance of some dissension in the ranks. |

Depends what I am doing, sometimes one on each side, sometimes two or three, sometimes half a dozen on one side and a player umpire or two on the other. Most games benefit from an umpire/organiser though, so a minimum is three. |

Depends what you are doing… there's wargaming and wargaming. I tend to do historical re-fights by myself (a) but do line em up and bash em games of an evening for sociability with friends -ideally two a side (c)… |

The best games for me are with 4 to 8 players with an umpire but rather than fully distinct sides each player has a brief giving his win conditions which are not necessarily compatible with players nominally on his side. x42 |

"B" …. One on one gives the best game (and offers no one else to blame for utter defeat.) Most games with 4 or more players just end up being a bunch of one on one games within the larger game. Zzzzzzzz Mike B |

B&C. Two players for competition games, four for recreating real battles or playing scenarios. Marco |
