So many great games to pick from. But the time has come to make a decision on what was the best theme game at Little Wars. Those games that were run by BOD Members and Convention staff are not considered. So I wanted to see from those that attended who they thought would be the top choice.

I wasn't able to play in it, but my vote would be Sword Beach, hands down.

I too was leaning toward that as well as the well as the The Battle of Prestonpans game. Would love to hear from folks that played in either of these games.

Both great games, would love to hear from other attendees.

OK, "Best Theme Game"?

I pulled out my program to see if I could determine what the "Theme" of Little Wars was this year. It was not on the cover, in fact I could find no mention of it anywhere (I admit I did not look that hard, but if it is important I should not have to) other than on Page 6 which really does not mention what it is and says that Game Masters can and probably should ignore it.

My point is, "Themes" for conventions are one of those traditions that we could probably retire and it would not be missed as is evident by its coverage in this years program.

A good thing that the Game Masters did not have to wait to get the program book to know what the Theme of the Convention was.

Not sure how your post contributes to the conversation. The theme was "First Contact".

My point is:

How can I vote for a Theme Game" when I do not know which one's are Theme Games?

But you are right, I should not comment without offering what I think would be a positive change.

I think we should retire the idea of a convention having a Theme.

I think we should replace "Best Theme Game with "Best of Show" and if you are serious about getting feedback from HMGS Members who attended 2015 Little Wars then you should send us an email, I believe you have all or at least most of them from our registrations, rather than posting it here.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Can you please elaborate on "Best in Show Theme" classification? Little Wars 2015 was my first convention so I'm not use to how HMGS Midwest defines "Best in Show Theme". I understand the convention theme was First Contact.

Does "Best in Show Theme" mean the best looking game that reflected a first contact encounter? Or the best presentation and not necessarily following first contact theme? As English is not my native language, I want to get the interpretation correct before voting.

Thank you in advance for clarifications.

I vote for Rivet Wars. If I am not mistake it was run by a boy. This should be encouraged for growing the hobby.

Just looking for those that attended to give their input into the games that they liked and were imressed by. No formal method or procedure.

Hope that you enjoyed yourself. There have been many great AARs and write ups on the convention, my desire was to give others a voice in talking about the games they enjoyed and were impressed by.

I have a short list in mind for the best theme game…but may have missed something.
