Does anyone make them? To fight the English, of course. I know Old Glory has 14th century Scots in their Crecy/Poitiers line. Would they work?

SBSchifani06 May 2015 6:34 p.m. PST

Claymore Castings 1388 Scots would be my choice.

Ashokmarine06 May 2015 6:35 p.m. PST

EBob maybe?.

Old Glory has a bag of them in their WotR range also.

I'm not sure what the Scots should look like in this period but Perry have some metal stuff in their European armies that could be made into spearmen pretty easily I think.

When in the 15th century did the Scots fight the English?

I am aware that Margaret of Anjou recruited large numbers of Scots for the 1461 campaign, but most of them were just along for the pillage and were not really fighting men.

Don't have dates handy, but IIRC early to mid-15th cent one of the lords mounted an sea expedition, landing in Scotland for a brawl. Don't have further information to hand.

Verneuil, Humbleton (just),Bauge, Cravant, Berwick & Roxburgh, Rouvray, Orleans, Patay, Melun, Lochmaben…

Ok mostly in France as allies of the French but still in sizable numbers.

Might be wrong but I think, French expeditions in the opposite direction came mostly after Flodden, though there had been small groups of Frenchmen in the country since before Bruces time.

Uglyfatbloke is the guy for this kind of thing – he'll tell you there was no difference in how lowland Scots looked compared to anyone else ;)

And since we're talking about wargames here – not history, would it matter if they never had fought against each other? Or do you only recreate historical battles 100% completely accurately?

To answer your question, aside from the WotR, 1400 England invaded southern Scotland, 1402 Scots invade England, 1417 Roxburgh, 1436 at Berwick and Roxburgh, 1460 Roxburgh again, 1480 the Duke of Gloucester attacked the border strongholds, Berwick again in 1482, 1484 border raids and similar forays into Scotland, and that's not a complete list, because I can't find my original reference. So, I don't know, do you think the English fought the Scots in the 15th century?

latto6plus207 May 2015 3:45 p.m. PST

Nah, not at all.
Even if that bothered you theres border raiding going on constantly; Islemen are fighting the english in Ireland. You can get extra mileage from your figures by pitching Highland v Lowland Scots and I reckon medieval Islemen would make good Iron Islanders from GoT.
Schifanis right though – Claymore castings are cracking!

Sorry – Bud; didnt read your whole post!

LOL! No prob! You're right – doing double duty stretches the wargaming dollar a bit.

To answer your question,

Thank you for your detailed reply. I wasn't implying it never happened, just curious to know when it did.

My apologies, MajorB. I've been attacked a few times on TMP in asking an innocent question or making an innocent statement. I guess I'm a bit defensive.

Stay away from Ebob, stiffed me over a year ago for $120 USD and no figures. Shame on him.
